I think analytics and new school philosophy are the reasons why most of the old school options like Garner, Dusty Baker, Showalter, etc aren't realistic candidates.

IMO the long term manager decision is one the GM should make. The GM can be held more accountable if he gets to pick his field manager. Still think Espada will be named interim manager soon, unless we move quick on the GM front.

Gonna be interesting to see if Boston comes after Espada. Even more interesting if NYM job comes open. Multiple teams with spots open this late is pretty unheard of.

I think Biggio would be a great hire. He could relate to the players, his experience working in the front office the past few years gives him a good aspect of things from that perspective (lot like AJ), and could really go a long ways to the clean slate revamped look Crane is wanting (not to mention winning some fans back).

Scrap iron would be a very good candidate as a 1-year fill-in


I don't think he's a long term solution, but he could help repair the organization's image with fans locally. Garner is connected to other playoff teams. I think he could be a nice bridge manager that has Astros and playoff experience.
