Just got call from Astros ticket rep, current looking at Monday May 11 as opening day. If that happens thinks they will just cancel games up until then.

We can't have gatherings that large until at least June. Not going to happen with fans.

June is 9 weeks away. No one knows what we can do 9 weeks from now.

No one has said anything like that yet. Is May 11 likely? No, not to me, but neither of us have any idea what the situation will look like in 9 weeks (or in 5 weeks when they likely have to make the call whether May 11 would work or even be played sans-fans).

The cdc recommended this already. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cnbc.com/amp/2020/03/16/cdc-recommends-the-cancellation-of-events-with-50-or-more-people-for-the-next-eight-weeks-throughout-us.html

It would have to be with no fans, right? I would still take it though.

Was thinking today that the Astros have made the NLCS/ALCS 5 times in the last 16 years. Despite the fact that there were some grim years in between the bookends, it's still been a pretty damn good ride that should yield more ALCS appearances when things get moving again.

We'll all remember the 2017 moments that led to the championship but there's some fun/heartbreaking memories to reflect on with the other 4 teams. In the spirit of missing baseball, here's a few off the top of my head (again, this excludes 2017 memories):

Amazing:
1. Altuve walk off vs Yankees, 2019 ALCS g6
2. Kent walk off vs Cardinals, 2004 NLCS g5
3. Oswalt shuts down Cardinals to clinch 2005 pennant, 2005 NLCS g6
4. Burke 18th inning walk off vs Braves, 2005 NLDS g4
5. Correa walks off the Yankees, 2019 ALCS g2
6. Gerrit Cole epic performances vs the Rays, 2019 ALDS g2, g5
7. Backe one hits the Cardinals, 2004 NLCS g5
8. Vizcaino ties game with 2 outs in 9th vs White Sox, Burke amazing slide, 2005 World Series g2
9. Astros come back from 6-1 down against Braves to force extra innings on Berkman grand slam and Ausmus game tying HR, 2005 NLDS g4
10. Berkman three run HR gives Astros late lead, 2005 NLCS g5

Heartbreaking:
1. Howie Kendrick HR in 7th inning vs Nationals, 2019 World Series g7
2. Scott Podsednik walk off vs White Sox, 2005 World Series g2
3. Pujols, 2005 NLCS g5
4. Benintendi catch to end game, 2018 ALCS g4
5. Edmonds walk off HR, 2004 NLCS g6

Fckn Jim Edmonds...God that guy raked and flashed some ridiculous leather against the Good Guys.

1. 9 is too low for that game.
2. How do you not have the game 2 HRs (Marwin, George)?

1. I technically have that game twice. The Burke walk off was No. 4. The comeback that preceded it was No. 9.
2. Read the rules.

Was it 2004 when Edmonds robbed the **** out of an Ausmus laser to CF that might have won the game, or given a late lead? Think it was late in the series too. Game 7 if I remember. He started forward then dead sprint back diving toward the CF wall and still made the catch. As much as it hurt that was one of the best catches I've ever seen when you factor in its importance.

Huge kick to the nuts. F Jim Edmonds. Jerkface

That Burke HR will always be #1 for me, just for what it represented. Finally winning a damn playoff series. The fact it was the 18th freaking inning was just the cherry.

5 ALCS appearances and 3 WS appearances

We average going to the WS once every 5 years since 2004. That's not too bad

Hoping to make that 4th WS appearance this season

For anyone looking to relive some old during the lockdown, here's the entire game:

What a game that way. Gutsy relief appearances. I was so convinced during that time that we were going to win it all and it was fate.

Just a reminder.... Brian McCann was in that game. Crazy career length for a catcher these days.

Man, that lineup was not good. Looking at WAR from that season, the only position players that were solid contributors were Berkman and Ensburg with Adam Everett as our next best position player. That pitching staff was absolutely filthy.

I've actually always thought our 2004 team was better than the 2005 team

Just shows how weird of a sport baseball is.

2004 team was better than the NL Champion 2005 team
2019 team was better than the World Champion 2017 team.

You could even argue that the 2018 team was better than the 2017 team also

When healthy 18>17 but the 18 team fell apart. Altuve was playing on 1 leg. Correa never got right. LMJ was pitching thru injury.

Three more weeks of this and we all may be doing that out of necessity.
