While the last 2 losses were tough to swallow, 2-2 in Boston isn't bad. Need to take 2 of 3 in Cincy then take care of business at home.

They were 36-30 through 66 games. I'll take that sample size over preseason projections.

Expectations change throughout the season. No one expected them to be where they are now.

Disappointing loss... another one that slipped away.

Some thoughts. Sampson is a good pitcher. Regardless of how good he is, if a pitcher throws a meat pitch, it will go for a HR. All of his Runs tonight scored on HRs.

I'd be interested to hear why Woody left him in. I have a feeling it was because he wanted to see him battle it out. He didn't pitch real poor. 4 of the 7 Hits he gave up went for HRs.

I wonder if Sampson was a little star struck. He battled through and made it 5.0 IP. Good for him.

Our lowest OBP for the 1st 7 hitters tonight is .331. DeShields is at .349.

We scored lots of runs. Anyone who thinks this team can't stay on pace for the WC (as is), isn't watching.

We really need to get some success on the road. We're almost halfway through June and we still haven't had an overall winning road trip. I think the best we've done is break even. Gotta get 2 in Cincinnati. They're a weird ass team. They have a positive run differential, but they don't win hardly any games.

Since I still believe the objective of this season is the development of our young talent, I try to look at every series through that prism. And it was a subpar 4 games for that bunch.

DeShields - Nothing until last night. Disappointing series.

Mazara - 1 for 5, 1 for 5, 1 for 3, - 3 RBIs. Not bad.

Odor - 0 for 3, 1 for 4 three times - 0 RBIs. OK, which is a great step forward for him.

Guzman - 1 for 5, 0 for 4, 0 for 0 - Not too good.

Jurado - Another really good start. 6 IP, 5 hits, 3 ER. Quality start.

Sampson - Not as good, but still decent. 5 IP, 7 hits, 6 ER. Too many HRs.

I agree about prospect development, but that isn't always seen in the statistics. Sure, I'd have liked to have seen more production out of that group. Adding in Santana, since he is under team control and Grape will be sad, if we don't, and Fairbanks.

I like Alberto, but what we see with guys like he, Danny Santana, Forsythe, etc... They are hit and miss and there are lots of them.

Either all 4 teams, include those teams that didn't claim him off waivers, missed something... or he isn't a full time 2B.

Looks like Jesse Chavez gets the GS. Guess he'll be the Opener, for Smyly to come in and do what he does.

I get what you are trying to do here, but Alberto's fielding stats are pretty equivalent to Odor's. Plus, he rotates between infield positions, so a little harder to for him to hone his craft at just one position like Odor can.

He's a 31 year old bullpen guy with a career 3.96 ERA and 1.5+ WHIP.

He was with the White Sox for awhile, but Texas is his 3rd organization in 2 seasons.

He's just a guy.

I am really liking the acquisition of Federowicz.

I dislike Smyly's demeanor as much as I dislike his results.

He just seems to have a lackadaisical presence. I know some guys don't show a lot of emotion, but you'd think from watching him that's he's being forced to be there.

Makes you wonder if Mathis survives once IKF returns. I don't keep up with the defensive metrics, but I recall reading that he isn't doing well there and when you are hitting a buck fifty (or thereabouts) it gets hard to keep him around. Although he is signed for 2020, so that may factor in, but we can't dump Federowiz if he keep performing.
