Not to me. Once it had its own momentum it was inevitable and overpowered any managerial or strategic decisions not tied to the streak and the club's bottom line. Manager thinks you need a day off. Can't. The streak. Old and not as effective. Doesn't matter, fans pay to see the streak. The Iron Man became a goal divorced from any team goals.

He had to play every day because that became an end in and of itself. Can't blame Cal for not volunteering to end the thing that differentiated him from better HOF peers during the run.

Tonight is an example of why, in my opinion, Yordon has to be able to play a position next season if we want to rotate people through the DH. He should have been batting behind Bregman.

He should be able to play 1B. He has played plenty of it in the minors. Unless he is just horrible at it. Tucker started playing it mid season this year and is now logging multiple innings at first in the majors.
