What team doesn't have pinch hitting woes? It's likely your 3 worst hitters + your backup catcher. There's a reason why they aren't starting.

With our lineup we shouldn't have needed pinch hitters. Need a lot more than 2 runs through 8 innings.
If Altuve gets a hit with bases loaded this game would have been over.
That said it was one loss. Win tomorrow and all is well.

Diaz will be the primary pinch hitter once Correa comes back
Over a 162 game season you will have 3 or 4 games that you blow and that really sting. Obviously this was in that category. You can't sit on a lead in this league and that's exactly what happened tonight.

Osuna has had some concerning outings. Hopefully he gets no where close to Giles-like meltdown stage.
It's concerning how many homeruns our pitching staff gives up on 2 strike counts.
After sleeping on it, I put last night's loss on Hinch. A few months ago we played the Red Sox at Fenway. Porcello threw a gem through seven and Cora sent him back out for the 8th. Springer proceeded to hit a 2 run HR and the Astros won. Cora took 100% responsibility after the game saying that Porcello did his job and throwing him in the 8th put him in position to fail.
I think Hinch let two factors that shouldn't be factors influence his decision:
1) Miley is by all accounts a really good clubhouse dude and he wanted him to get the complete game shutout
2) Hinch is trying to find avenues to give the bullpen some rest during the dog days
If we had a 5-0 lead against just about any other opponent, I think you could make a "sure why not" case to give Miley a chance to finish it off. But with a 2-0 lead against the only division opponent that matters right now, don't take any chances... get Osuna out there to start the inning.
Obviously it didn't necessarily have to end that way. If Miley and/or Osuna had done their job, there would be no issue. But they didn't. It's just one game though. Still love Hinch.
And I think we learned something about Miley last night that could come in handy later in the year. Cole and JV seem to have reserves in the tank when they push 100 pitches but Miley doesn't. When he starts getting close to 100 pitches in high leverage, time to get him out.

Actually I know it's lefty on lefty but Miley gets ground balls, when you have two on and no one put up 2 don't bring in a fly ball pitcher. I think joe smith or devenski would have been a better option there to guard against the hr a little bit

There's no underlying issues we need to iron out or big red flags that last night's loss raised.
