Boyd has been trash since the beginning of June. In those 8 starts he has a 1-4 record (The Tigers went 1-7 overall) 47.1 IP with a 6.08 ERA. He still has elite strike out to walk ratio (72/9 during that span) but he gives up a ton of HRs and hits. 14 HRs and 53 hits.

I can't remember a season with this many arm injuries. Good frikkin grief.

I don't see the Astros trading for a rental. If they did, I definitely don't see it being for a big name like Bumgarner. The rotation will be fine for the postseason. Another arm would be a luxury, but it isn't a necessity. Peacock is more than serviceable as your 4th guy.

The real problem is next year. Cole is gone and who knows what will happen with Miley.

I think Lunhow is targeting a Cole replacement. I would assume he is playing hard ball now, but as we get closer to the deadline he'll make more prospects available. Personally, I have no problem giving up Tucker or Whitley if it gets us a front of the rotation guy that is under team control. Syndergaard and Stroman seem like the most likely fits.

Feels like that is the Astros formula. Keep the offensive core together, pay your ace, then fill out your rotation through trades and reclamation projects like Morton and Miley.

Between Cole and Correa .... it's tough because when healthy, it's Correa all day. But we haven't seen Correa even at 90% healthy all season since he came up.

So as of now I'd say keep Cole, springer, Diaz and Brantley as long as you can


If we can have a core of Altuve, Bregman, Reddick, Cole, LMJ, Alvarez, and Springer for the next 4-6years ... we will be contenders every year. Also throw in Diaz if he can stay healthy and produce.

However if Cole walks and we keep Correa it's not a bad scenario. It's a win-win keeping either of them long term IMO if Correa gets healthy

Reddick will need to take a pay cut if he wants to remain after his contract.

We still have Correa locked up for the '20 & '21 seasons. His FA is so far out that it's pretty useless to try and guess what type of contract he'll be demanding. That being said, he seems like the odd man out in the lineup if he ends up demanding big money.

On the other hand, Cole is a lock to cash in on a massive deal this off season. I don't think we'll be in at all. Sounds like he'll be heading back to Cali, or to a big market team.
