Go look at his road/home splits. They aren't even close. One might say they aren't in the same ballpark.
Wow just looked them up...his average road 162 games was .276 21 HR 80 RBI, which is a nice player. Hall of very good, Josh Reddickesque.

His avg home 162: .345 32 HR 122 RBI!!!

As much as I'd like to see him hit one 500' I can understand where they're keeping him out of LF. I was fully expecting that Brantley double to be caught by the CF but the gaps are yuge.

I love Berkman both as a player and as a human but I think he cost himself a shot @ the HOF because he didn't take better care of himself physically.

True. But Berkman wasn't so much a fatty as he was someone that was renowned for not taking conditioning & nutrition seriously and he really fell off a cliff there at the end. He had a great career and I'm sure he has no regretsbut man 1 or 2 more good/healthy seasons would have probably gotten him in.
