Again... only 3 bullpen arms I trust on this team... worthless
The Memorial Day game. I gave up on the boys and went to HEB for some steaks and other stuff for the grill. Happened to check my phone in the check out line and saw we scored a few. Got in the car and turned the radio on and heard we scored a few more. Hurried home, grabbed a few beers and headed to the neighbors garage in time to see McCann hit one over. Said I'd never again give up on a game the 'Stros were playing.
Now our BP has gone to hell.

Man, the pitching when we are behind is not giving us any chance of catching up. Hard to come back when keep giving up runs.

Leaving McHugh in too long was on Hinch. This is not. The guys we run out there when we're down by two just need to be able to do better.
And that's another thing.
We're working with a smaller BP than we'd like because we're rostering Tyler White who's out of options.

White needs to be cut loose, he's a complete waste of a roster spot
We've given up 30 runs in the last 3 games. Just garbage.

He's your set up guy though. Hinch doesn't want pitchers pitching more than 2 games in a row in normal situations. He'd obviously rather use Pressly in a tie or when we have the lead. I can't say I blame him, especially in the first game of a three game series given how Hinch doesn't want pitchers really pitching 2 games in a row.
The rest of the pen HAS to step up when the starting pitching isn't doing well. We cannot expect the starter to go 7 and then Pressly Osuna.
To me, this is not on Hinch. This is squarely on the bullpen who has not been able to get holds in the last three games.
Bottom line is this: Starters need to buckle down and everyone outside of Harris/Rondon/Pressly/Osuna have to step up.

Whitley isn't coming up this month. He has a 6.55 ERA after 3 starts at Round Rock.
Brady Rodgers has been the best starter with a 2.25 ERA and only 18 hits in 24 IP.

Precisely, so get rid of White to bolster the pen and try out different options.
I think the offense has enough to cover him if they want him to work it out.

Perhaps it's the catcher. Chirinos is getting most of the work these days. We didn't have this problem last year with McCann, Stassi and Gattis.
There is a way to solve the pitching issue right now. Although it may not be popular... just sign Dallas and move McHugh or Peacock back to the pen.
In Cole's last start, Stassi was not good at receiving the ball...to the point of being remedial at trying to catch the outer half of the ball towards the zone. Pulling the glove a lot back into the zone is what you see young catcher's doing, not MLB.
He and Cole couldn't seem to get on the same page either with pitch selection.

I don't think we really want to consider moving McHugh after one terrible start and 3 excellent starts? Do we?
