Working out at Rice while drawing interest from multiple teams.

I'm guessing he doesn't sign anywhere until after the draft.

Realistically if you signed Keuchel today, what's the earliest you could put him out there and expect him to be in game shape as a starter? May 1? He's cost himself 1/6 of the season. And 1/6 of his value this season.

The reports out there are that his "price is dropping" (shocking!) and he's willing to do a one year deal, but that he still wants more than the $17.9M QO we offered him.

IMO, lotta pride getting in his way there & if he ends up settling for less than we offered him it's egg on the face for both him and Boras. I wonder if:

1. We would still sign him for the prorated portion of that or if he'd have to take less?

2. He will end up signing for a decent amount, but after the draft where a team won't have to give up a pick...because the prorated part of 1 yr/18M without a pick seems like a pretty decent deal.
