I bet that means Dallas is a no go
The author also isn't that up to date on analytics. Just basically threw a few aggregated stats out there and said he's going to regress to his career average without investigating the reasons for his performance last season or looking at the reasons for his career stats (pitching style changes, etc.).MAROON said:
well in fairness the author makes part of his conclusion that teams will be paying him $10+ mil per year in a multi year deal. So at $4.5mil maybe it's an ok deal.

I think it's a good move. Not the best pitcher over his career, but pitched well in a short season. Low risk.

That being said, no one should expect a sub-3 ERA out of him in Houston. Would be a decent 4th/5th starter or long reliever, but doesn't necessarily knock my socks off. Not a lot of risk for 4.5m, but injuries would be a concern of mine.

I think a better name for that new ballpark would be "event center"

So can we all agree to never shorten the name of that particular playing surface in Arlington? Let's respect their decision to not play on grass, and only refer to it by its full name: AstroTurf.
I'm happy that Round Rock is now an Astros affiliate (I live in NW Austin).AggieDem said:
Texas Monthly's "National Podcast of Texas" has Nolan and Reid Ryan on. Lots of good stuff in there, including a bit about a cow milking contest between Nolan and Willie Stargell.
Also found it interesting that Reid Ryan thinks there should/could be a MLB franchise in San Antonio or Austin. As an Austinite, I would probably attend games if the stadium was somewhere between Austin and San Marcos along I-35 or the 130 toll road, but I wouldn't make the trip down to San Antonio. Loyalties would always lie in Houston, and it would be great to get to more than one or two Astros games each season.
