Martinez gets 2 big asterisks for being a DH and for playing in the Kingdome.

Mussina pass. He only made it because he played with the Yankees for 8 years. Posted an unimpressive 3.88 ERA in New York. There are good reasons why he never won a Cy Young and only finished as the runner-up once in 18 seasons

I'm kind of in the same mindset. Hurts Martinez he didn't play defense. He was in the steroid era and didn't break 20 homers until he was 32. He was more of an average and one hitter until then. I think Mussina got it because he had 270 wins. Which is pretty impressive.

If Harold Baines is the measuring stick, all four of those are worthy. And another 10 guys on the ballot should be locks in the next few years.

And for reasons like Placido Palanco getting votes. That's just making a mockery of it. In no way shape or form is Placido Polanco worthy of a HOF vote.

Lance ties or beats Edgar in every category except batting average.

btw...Lance has awesome postseason numbers. Plus 4 top five MVP finishes. Martinez has one

And he played in the field.

Moises Alou also has very comparable career stats to Edgar...and was huge and the 97 World Series...and played the field.

Berkman has a career OPS of .943

Altuve's MVP season had OPS of .957

Berkman gets killed with the counting #s and when he's compared to some of the best juice monkeys.

He also didn't bring home a ton of hardware, but was always close.

MVP Finishes: 3, 3, 5, 5, 7, 7, 14.

Here is what shows (to me) why he is HOF worthy
He's 43rd in On Base, 39th in Slugging, & 27th in OPS ALL TIME. That tells me his non counting #s are at a minimum top 50 all-time for a batter (probably much higher).

With as many ass holes and poor role models, there are in sports, Lance was a class act. He's outgoing, fun loving, and a hell of an interview. His story on the radio about how there was only 2 out but he thought there was 3 and he ran halfway to the dugout, faked an injury, got back out there only to see Andy completely implode afterward to the tune of 6 runs was pure radio gold.

The Big Puma should at the very least have gotten a very hard look and not just dropped off for lack of caring. Some of it is guys need a mouthpiece. Someone who is willing to push the cause if they are marginal. Edgar got that. Dale Murphy didn't. Alan Trammel didn't. Berkman didn't.

If only he had played more games. If he had been in the top 4 or 5 games played of OFers. That is all it takes according to some

Berkman at Rice was crazy good. Did anyone go to the Aggie Rice game where he hit two homers, but the Ags still won... We were in Left behind the wall. One of his bombs one hopped the Rec Center.

yeah, it drops off after 30, but walk in a MS store on a Fortnite Friday sometime. Maybe they are under 30 but just look like they are older.
