Marlins know the Astros/Luhnow will not go above their value so are hoping to finally do a good value trade by getting other teams to overpay. Too bad they did not take same approach when they gifted Stanton to the Yankees.

I hope one of the pieces isn't Whitley. My guess is that the our best prospect in the trade would be Yordan Alvarez. I could live with that since Seth Beer could be a similar prospect for us.

Pretty sure they've told teams they aren't trading Whitley for anything.

One thing that's worth noting here is that Chirinos and Realmuto have roughly the same OPS over the past 3 years.

The more I think about Realmuto from this angle, the more I question whether or not we're actually interested in trading for him. It's possible that all the reports are coming from the Marlins side to see if they can get another team to come in and "outbid" the Astros.

I'm a firm no on dealing Whitley or Tucker for Realmuto. And I'd even be tentative about trading any of our next level prospects for him (ie Alvarez, JBB, Corbin, etc). If I'm going to move one of those guys, I'd rather get a ~.900 ops 1B/DH/corner outfielder or a proven starter than a marginal catcher upgrade.

Has there been any speculation on what our offer would be for Realmuto? Stassi maybe? Just prospects?

I imagine they'd want Stassi or Stubbs included in any package.

Maybe that's also an option to include Reddick as well.

Been saying it from the beginning

We included JB in previous rumors about Harper and different guys so I would think it would be built around him.

All this criticism of Realmuto will instantly turn to praise if we really do trade for him.

You're right but I already praised him. He's good and trending up.

And IIRC he's much better defensively than Chirinos who's about as good/bad as McCann.
