Sabathia is going to be 39 next year and age is due to beat him especially at his size.

Paxton has been tough on us but lets see him have to pitch with expectations and being able to stay healthy.

Happ, meh. Its Happ. I'd take McHugh over him any day of the week.

I remember during the 2015 TCU vs A&M super regional the tv hosts talking about how Riley Ferrell could be inserted into an MLB roster directly after the college season was over and be at least an average MLB pitcher.

IIRC Ferrell had his ups and down in MiLB but I thought Ferguson was a decent prospect.

Can't protect everyone I guess

Quote:

In the Triple-A phase of the Rule 5 Draft, the Rays select RHP Ryan Thompson from the Astros organization. He pitched in 37 games last season combined between Triple-A and Double-A.

In the Triple-A phase of the Rule 5 Draft, the Astros take C Alejandro Flores, a Double-A catcher from Washington

Alejandro Flores slashed .216/.309/.390 in 66 games at Class A last season. He played in the Mexican League in 2016 and 2017

That's an odd deal for a Mariners and Indians.

Nothing this off season makes a lot of sense.

Really weird stuff going down

I just don't get trying to flip players. They are a depreciating asset. In the case of Encarnacion (or Cano with the Mets), a rapidly depreciation one. You have to hope they have a really good first half to get some value on the back end and guys this age don't just suddenly have massive years in them very often. He won't be happy going from a playoff team to one thats in the tank. And the last person I want on my team is an unhappy/moody Encarnacion.

I view Santana and Encarnacion as similar, but I guess Mariners view Encarnacion as the better bet to have trade/flip value and Indians view Bauers as someone to take a flier on.

Well I guess they just flipped him. But it wasn't really a flip so much as a 3 way trade.

We have 3 catchers plus Stubbs in the minors. I don't think JT is the target.

They probably like his defense or potential. It is the Triple A portion so only requires that we keep him at Triple A or higher for the season.

That makes a lot more sense. Mariners trading for him or guys like him doesn't.

I totally skipped over the part where he said triple-a phase of the draft. I was wondering why they would want a guy like him on the 25 man roster.

Probably bogus information but to be honest I'm desperate for something to pop off for Houston on the Free Agency or Trade market

Does he have to stay on the 40 man?

What would signing Brantley do to the path of Tucker??

Is this going to be more than Marwin gets? Why not just resign him? He's younger, healthier, more versatile, and only a slightly worse bat. Plus his best year was 2017. Brantley's was 2014.

Slow it down. Brantley will get Injured and Tucker would fill in.

Maybe we should try to get Encarnacion. He looks like a prime Crawford Box hitter

lets not start getting nervous and anxious now. Just take a deep breath and relax in the fact that Harper will be signing with us next week.

No, thanks. I don't want that "chicken wing" running around our bases. That's downright goofy.

Would've been a perfect fit especially in a package with one of their starters.

They dump the salary they don't want and get some prospects and we get a DH and a starter.

They had similar production in their best season, but Brantley has been a more consistent and better hitter than Marwin has to this point.

Probably not much. Reddick looks like good trade candidate and most likely wont remain on the team for 2020.
