I think that would've been a fair return for a rental.

Looking back. I really wish that deal had gone through. Even though I like Bukauskus a lot.

That seems pricey for a rental. Based on seeing what happened with Boston, I don't think it would have been enough unless he goes on a Beltran 04 type run.

#Astros on list of teams talking to #Mariners about a trade for LHP James Paxton, sources say. Market described as "active," including HOU, NYY and a wide variety of other clubs. Paxton in his career against HOU: 2.89 ERA in 71 2/3 innings, .605 opponents' OPS.

And he's gonna end up walking for nothing anyways.
Stupid of the Nats to not deal him. Writing was on the wall for awhile he wouldn't be staying in WAS.

Would love to make this happen so we don't have to face him 5 times a year anymore

so is the general thought...the Astros are going to let Morton go?
the front office believes they have gotten the best from him (and the best value)

But if he doesn't face us then he won't be nearly as good.

Interesting list. I don't know if I'd rush for any of them, except for Richards. The upside is mad real, but I worry about his arm health. His velocity this year was his highest on every pitch, however (except his four seamer). Done right, this could be a Charlie Morton-type move.Mr.Ackar07 said:

5 pitchers the Astros could potentially improve upon:
1. Sonny Gray
2. Trevor Cahill
3. Garrett Richards
4. Drew Pomeranz
5. Jeremy Hellickson
lol Jed Lowrie is coming back like I'm getting back with my ex. Not a chance in any religion's hell.bearkatag15 said:
My dream scenario... sign Patrick Corbin, Nelson Cruz, Jed Lowry and Wilson Ramos. Go after Cody Allen and Andrew Miller and see if we can turn them around. Then win the whole damned thing.
Why is that LOL?Waffle11 said:lol Jed Lowrie is coming back like I'm getting back with my ex. Not a chance in any religion's hell.bearkatag15 said:

I could get Sonny to return to form. Just don't start him in NY. Simple.Ag_07 said:
I would put my money on Sonny Gray returning to form with Strom than Garrett Richards staying healthy.
Richards has been spinning it for years and years. He seems like the ideal target for us.Waffle11 said:Interesting list. I don't know if I'd rush for any of them, except for Richards. Because Jed has signed twice and been traded twice. He's not going to run up to that football and kick it again.Farmer1906 said:Why is that LOL?Waffle11 said:lol Jed Lowrie is coming back like I'm getting back with my ex. Not a chance in any religion's hell.bearkatag15 said:

Clearly, Jeff sees something he's liked about him since the draft. We have holes to fill. He's still a solid bat and would come pretty cheaply with his age.
If we offer him the most money, why would he turn it down? Because there is a chance he could be traded? Get a no-trade clause or negotiate more money by not having one. He's only made <39 M in his 11 season career in the bigs.Waffle11 said:Because Jed has signed twice and been traded twice.
