Sign keuchel. 2 years. Option for 3 and lots of incentives. He needs to get over it. Boras needs to admit he goofed (that's the hard part) and lunhow should pay him as a solid #2 even though he's going to be a #3 here.
Has Keuchel officially passed on our offer? I know I saw a link to barstool sports earlier in the thread that he may have, but I've not seen that corroborated anywhere else.

At this point that offer better not be good.

With everyday that goes by he's that much more likely to miss starts.

His value is nose diving. Really his best bet now is to wait until someone gets hurt and he gets a bit of leverage back.

Before watching that I was expecting to see Reddick playing first being mowed over.

Anyone else see he has logged some reps at 1B?

It was more of a general question, not solely directed at you.

The Astros can give him a small bump (Correa went to 1 M, if I remember correctly), but I'm pretty sure they can also keep him at the min.

Alex is a special player and we hope he's here for his entire career, and we're giving him the second-highest pre-arbitration earnings that we've ever given in history and one of the top 10 in MLB history.

Not sure but they gave Correa a $1 million renewal before his arb year because he won RoY. Bregman was the AS MVP, was in the AL MVP running and led the team in a ton of offensive categories. Maybe match the Correa renewal?
They said they did it because he missed the Super 2 by 2 days.

I just got a salary raise to bump my base into 6 figures

I wish I could be mad about 600k and that amount being $100k more than what I'm owed

Correa (and Kris Bryant before him with the Cubs) got bumped to over $1 million either as make good, or outright as agreed terms from beforehand for being held off the big league club until they would miss Super 2 status.

It doesn't really matter in the scheme of things, IMO. They could've just given him the minimum for all the difference it would make. People worry about Correa, but I'm fairly certain that Bregman is definitely going to try and sign with the Yankees specifically the first chance he gets.

Why do you say that?

Edit: He could have the same beef with them. Judge only received $65k extra this year. That mean the Yankees do t "want" him? This is less about the money and more posturing for CBA.

I'm pretty sure what you are describing is not allowed under the CBA. I'm not denying backroom "handshake" agreements exist, but if a club gets caught doing that, draft picks could be at stake.

The money has nothing to do with why I think that. Just my gut feeling there. He's a former Yankees fan, with a homer Yankee dad and family, wears Jeter's number etc.

Wore Jeter's number if he goes to the Yankees.

I dunno, maybe. The three top renewed contracts ever all just happen to be superstar can't miss prospects who were in that exact situation to start their career. Bryant, Correa, Trout.

Bregman and Judge will be free agents at the same time. Correa the year before.

the Yankees will be paying Giancarlo $32 MM per season by then. How much money do they have in the Bronx?

Bregman comes off as a guy who just wants to play ball and win. He seems like he'd be the type to forego some money to be on the best team.

But shlt I say that about a lot of players yet I'm not sure I've ever seen one of them do it.

and speaking of the Yankees and big or bad contracts...

they will pay Ellsbury another $21 MM this season and owe him $21 MM again in 2020.

another example of why you don't give long-term contracts to guys over the age of 30. They can fall off quickly

We're about at the spring training midpoint, right? Any thoughts on the Astros so far? Not wise to extrapolate production, but maybe there are some flags and positives to date:

1. Correa seems healthy.
2. Altuve does not, but no panic yet.
3. Peacock has to be a lock for the rotation, right?
4. Pen might be a bit shaky outside Pressly and Ozuna, especially given #3.

Thoughts?

1. I expect a huge year from CC. Top 5 MVP kinda year.
2. Altuve has been very durable over his career. The office knows there is zero reason to rush anything.
3. Peacock is killing it. If he can get lefties out with his change piece then watch out. We may have a surprise ace (Morton like)
4. Harris, Rondon, & Smith should all be fine. Devo worries me. But we'll have James, Perez, and maybe a few other young guys there for now too. Maybe not 2018 good, but should be a strength still.

Really need one of these young lefties to step up and claim a spot in the pen. Perez is my pick but he might not quite be ready

If you have to write an article claiming it doesn't look like another stadium then it probably does.

Headed to Florida this weekend for several days of spring training. Anyone been to West Palm? My wife is a huge Astros fan and wants to take in early morning stretching, batting, etc. If someone has been, any insider tips on what the daily schedules are like, best places to watch, how to get some autographs, and such? I'll be sitting in the sun with a beverage in hand, which works out well- players give kids and ladies time, not old guys like me... haha.

The big question I have when looking at those renderings is...Where are the tarps gonna go?

Seriously I don't know the seating capacity but that looks like a shlt ton of seating and with the path they're on now I'm not sure they'll be able to fill a high school ballpark.
