This has been an interesting offseason. I have to imagine the front office is already essentially having to make tough decisions on which of the "core" young players they want to move forward with:
Altuve (already locked in)
Springer
Bregman
Correa
Bregman is IMO the obvious next most important guy to keep, then it gets interesting.
In terms of potential, Correa wins over Springer. In terms of production, Springer wins.
What is your realistic opinion on Correas future?
Pitching is even tougher, as we have two elite starters on their final contract year. I have to believe that we will look into a long term deal for Cole. Do we plan on signing Verlander after this season?
All that being said, our window seems to close slightly at a minimum after this season. It's no secret that I'm a huge "go for broke" guy, but you DO have to take everything into account.
Our lack of action leads me to believe that we are planning more long term than short, but as the roster stands right now, I don't see us as front runners for next season...
