Fenway last night was fun! Such a beautiful ballpark - it and Wrigley are in a level all to themselves as the jewels of the sport.

Sonny Gray was a little shaky in the 1st inning but was incredible after that. I really needed the Rangers to put up a little bit more of a fight to keep the score closer so I could have seen Aroldis Chapman come in - I still need to check him off my potential future HoF checklist.

Have to say that we weren't impressed with Dodger Stadium. Maybe because it was a day game, hot, no shade, and really crowded due to Ohtani on the mound. Traffic getting in was absolutely gridlock causing us to miss the first three innings. Stadium itself has not been updated at all, unlike Angels Stadium. I guess they are deferring upgrades like they are deferring contracts. Crowd was into it so I give them props and Dodger Dogs did live up to their reputation.

Just got tickets to the Field of Dreams minor league game on Aug 11. Pretty excited to do that trip, wasn't expecting to do that in my lifetime. Hoping for some miracle to get tickets to the MLB game on the 13th too.

Just realized the Twins are in town too so flying into Minneapolis, seeing a game Monday night then the minor league game Tuesday, fly home Wed.

A few days ago I was trying to think of what more northern cities I'd go to on purpose to see baseball and all I could come up with was Pittsburgh. Been to that stadium but not for a ball game. Wrigley would be the other one but don't want to go to Chicago. Cincy probably would be ok. The rest I just don't wanna go. I'd go to San Diego or Arizona . Would like to see Camden yards if it wasn't in Baltimore. Ditto Busch if it wasn't in StL.

I just did Wrigley field this weekend, caught the Cubs vs. Cardinals game on the 4th of July.

A couple of things stood out, first all of the crap about Chicago being dangerous is probably the biggest exaggeration in the history of exaggerations. We spent time downtown (around the Navy Pier) and around Wrigleyville and the city was nothing but outstanding. Clean, safe and welcoming. I am sure there are some bad parts of town, but at least in my experience you'd have to make a choice to go there.

Second, Wrigley is amazing and somehow they made it feel modern without getting rid of the historic charm. Fenway was historic and did not feel modern in anyway, you feel like you are in a time machine at Fenway, but Wrigley doesn't have that same back in time vibe. One thing me and my son loved were the modern troughs in the bathrooms lol. My wife didn't understand my excitement at fancy troughs.

Lastly, the Cubs fans were all pretty cool, good atmosphere in the stadium and even though the Cubs lost, they stayed engaged and were respectful except when a fan in a Packers jersey made it on the jumbotron.

Next up is maybe PNC this coming Sunday if I decide to do the 5 hour drive. Right now the matchup is scheduled to be Skenes vs. Misiorowski and that might be too much to pass up if the matchup stays like that. Then I'm heading to Milwaukee the following week for my first game up there. (The Midwest is baseball paradise)

PNC and that pitching matchup? Yeah you have to do that

If I do it, I'll probably head to Detroit on Saturday night to cross off Comerica also, and that matchup is Sanchez (Phillies) vs. Mize. I'd miss Skubal by a day if the matchups stay as scheduled, but that would have been unreal if I could have seen Skubal vs. Sanchez and then the next day see Skenes vs. Misiorowski.

Right now I'm planning on doing it unless the weather looks suspect later in the week.

Has anybody bought the MLB passport? Thinking about doing it and you can get stamps from already visited stadiums when you order

It'll be about $105 to order and get all of my back tracked stamps so don't know if it's worth it or not

I have that book, it's pretty nice. I figure their stamps are cheaper than going back for revisits or the hassle of trying to mail stickers to the stadiums and hope they send one back. As a side note, these stickers work great for the stadiums or national parks if you don't want to drag the big books around. I cut them into strips of 2 stickers and put them under my phone case so I always have a couple.

If you visit PNC, enter at the home plate entrance (Honus Wagner statue). Once you go up the escalator, there's nothing like that first view.

Does the mlb passport fit in a pair of shorts pockets? I often take exactly nothing except my wallet and phone when I visit and try to refrain from staying at a hotel.

Well said. Our seats were at the bottom of the top deck behind home plate. Phenomenal view of the park, bridge, river, and downtown.

Ballpark #9 for me

Classic game even though the Stros lost.

There are a couple versions of it. I have a bigger one that has details about the park, map of the stadium and a place for notes. It wouldn't fit in a pocket, it's like a 4-5" square binder. They also have a smaller one that is basically pages for stamps that looks like it would. That's why I just get the stickers and just put them in after in the bigger book.

Tickets are bought.

Heading to Detroit on Saturday night to see Phillies (Sanchez) vs. Tigers and then on Sunday afternoon I'll be in Pittsburgh to see Skenes vs. Misiorowski.

https://www.mlb.com/news/paul-skenes-jacob-misiorowski-set-to-match-up-for-pirates-brewers

Knocking out two stadiums and seeing one of the best possible pitching matchups of the year.

After this weekend I will have seen Chase Burns, Chris Sale, Christopher Sanchez, Jacob Misiorowski and Paul Skenes all this year. I just need to figure out how to catch an Ohtani start and I'll have seen pretty much every top arm in the National League.

Pitchers are definitely the hardest to time if you're hunting guys to see play!

I went to Detroit early this season and was pleasantly surprised by the ballpark. I've never heard anyone suggest it before but I think it is a forgotten gem of newer parks. It reminds me of PNC is some aspects as well as TBIA. I went to American Family the same weekend and was not impressed. If you want Little Ceaser's, it's the place to go. Try the pirogie nachos, they were pretty good.

Not a MLB park but my oldest got to play at Rickwood Field in Birmingham a couple weeks ago. Pretty cool experience on the oldest ballpark in America (opened 1910) and to play on a field where guys like Ty Cobb, Babe Ruth, Shoeless Joe, Willie Mays, Hank Aaron, Jackie Robinson, Satchel Paige, and so many of the Negro League stars played. Almost everything original has been preserved and they've got some really cool memorabilia in a small museum and gift shop there.

The original outfield wall still stands behind the current one. The original wall was 405 down the LF line, 478 in the LC alley, and like 485 to dead center.

Really cool experience for him.

Looking at knocking off 2 more ballparks next year.

Looking at either
1. Chicago -> Milwaukee (white sox and brewers since I've been to Wrigley)
2. Cleveland -> Pittsburgh.
3. New York and Atlanta (Mets in NYC since I've seen the Yankees) as two separate trips. Already going to NYC in June for a school trip.

Anybody recommend one over the others?
AgRyan04

You could just skip Milwaukee/CWS and go to Wrigley twice

If you haven't been to Cinci or Philly, you could tack those onto your Cleveland/Pittsburgh trip pretty easily

Oof, Misiorowski is out tomorrow with arm fatigue. My perfect matchup has been ruined, still going to be out there at PNC and excited to see Skenes for the first time.

I'll actually be up in Milwaukee next weekend so another chance to catch Misiorowski depending on when they let him go again.

If you get the timing right you could easily knock out 3 with Detroit, Cleveland and Pittsburgh without much driving required.

Updated list with my ranking for each

Visited:
Fenway/Boston
AT&T/San Francisco
PNC/Pittsburgh
Petco/San Diego
Wrigley/Cubs
Great American/Cincinnati
Comerica/Detroit
Coors/Colorado
Arlington (TBiA for ranking purposes, if ranking the new park, it's down right above Chase)
Truist/Atlanta
Citi/NY Mets
Houston (Juice Box, never visited the Dome)
Kauffman/Kansas City
American Family/Milwaukee
Busch/St Louis
Dodger Stadium/Los Angeles (NL)
Chase/Arizona
Seattle (Kingdome, haven't been to Safeco/T-Mobile yet)

I'll be knocking out CWS, Minnesota, Cleveland, Toronto, Philly, NYY, Baltimore, and Washington next year which will get me up to 26. I'll only be missing the Angels, Las Vegas A's, and the two Florida teams. I'll also probably make a return trip to Seattle at some point.

If the current 2027 schedules hold (doubt it but still)

It'll line up where there's a home series for the diamondbacks the same weekend the Aggies go to Arizona state.

The Astros are here 5 weeks before the Aggies football game.

I might have misunderstood. I thought you were looking to make the trip a two for one.

No I was just saying you can check off a ballpark on the Aggie road trip. Like many did for Notre dame/Wrigley last year

I like Chase. Only stadium i know of with a sports book right by the entrance.
AggieEP
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Chase really isn't bad, but it has a weird quiet vibe and feels a bit cavernous with the roof closed. My parents live in Scottsdale so I get to go every once in a while and that's been my experience. I do think that if I was there for a playoff game I'd have a different opinion if it wasn't just a random regular season game.

I love baseball and I really value park atmosphere and places like Boston and Cincinnati have consistently good and engaged crowds.

I live in Phoenix so I go to games there and enjoy it. The roof is only open in April typically of course. The dimensions are big adding to the feel you're getting.
AggieEP
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Yeah, I'm not trashing on Chase, it just has a really laid back atmosphere. Possibly this is due to all the retirees in the area? It's a perfectly fine ballpark, and really now that the Coliseum is shut down and the Trop will soon be history, there really aren't a lot of parks left that aren't genuinely good and designed specifically for baseball. So the idea of ranking them is more about personal preferences in gameday atmosphere and the convenience of attending.
