Nobody has been switched around. Cole has always followed McCullers
I didn't infer that they had been switched, I meant I expected JV to stay on normal rest and pitch 5 days after his last start, which would put Cole pitching on Wednesday.

Most skippers keep their ace on 5 day rotation and the rest of the rotation shuffles a little to accommodate, usually flat out skipping #5 starter when there is an off day.

It is a different dynamic with the 5 starters we have.

This might be old news to some of you, but looks like we are likely to switch our AAA affiliate back to Round Rock, with the Rangers possibly going to San Antonio, who is moving up from AA and also has an expiring contract.

I remember hearing about this but totally slipped my mind since the season started.

After reading the article it sounds like nothing is a done deal yet which I thought it was. It'll be nice to have Round Rock back.

I read a couple of other things and it sounds like we will end up at either Round Rock (more likely) or if not then San Antonio, with the Arlington team at the other. Sounds also like Fresno has had declining support and the community would prefer to be the affiliate of a team closer to home (they were previously with SF).

Wouldn't work. You'd have to find a team that was willing to switch to an independent league. Not too many teams would willingly give up the financial benefits from the association with a MLB team.

Can't an MLB team just drop their affiliate and move somewhere else if they want once a contract is up?

Is there a Texas league for High or Low A ball? It would be ideal to drop Buies Creek or Quad Cities but they only play teams in the Carolinas and Midwest.

Buies Creek is going away after this year. The team is moving to Fayetteville, NC. Teams can move (such as the AA Jackson Generals moving to RR to become the AA Express or the AAA Edmonton Trappers to RR to become the AAA Express or AA RR to Corpus). Point being, you'll see re-shuffling of the current teams, not Atlantic League teams (outside the Rookie League, Low-A, High-A, AA, AAA) switching leagues altogether.

There's not a Texas League for Single A (Low or High).

I believe so. For example, the San Antonio Missions have an expiring AA contract with the Padres. That franchise (and its roster) will go to Amarillo, where they will get a new name & ballpark.

The Colorado Springs AAA franchise (Sky Sox, currently with Milwaukee) will be transferred to San Antonio, where it will continue to play in the PCL, but will take over the "Missions" name & brand. The Sky Sox name will stay in Colorado Springs, but the Brewers will move their Rookie League team from Helena, MT and the new Sky Sox will play in the Pioneer (rookie) League. I guess Helena will no longer have a team, for now.

Like AgFan said, there is no Texas league and there aren't any leagues near Texas in High or Low A ball.

The Buies Creek Astros came about when the California League shrank by two teams with the Carolina League expanding by two teams.

Round Rock is part of the 'Greater Austin Area" and being that you live in south Austin it is absolutely certain that it will take less time to go see Express play than drive to downtown Houston for an Astros game.
