So nice to have the Rangers coming when you need to get some separation from the Angels.
Can we ask the Rangers if they will switch a series and make these away games?

Doubtful, to many factors to play into that. No way they could have known when they did the schedule.
The NBA could have scheduled around the Astros schedule in order to maximize fan presence.

All I know is the NBA Playoffs are waaaaaaaaay to effing long.

Absolutely no games on back to back days going forward and the finals don't start until May 31st... that's three entire weeks for a 7-game series to conclude and give a brief rest. But who needs a rest when you get 3 fulldays between half the games during the series?

Makes me appreciate the baseball postseason all that much more.

This round got moved up due to all 4 series ending 4-0 or 4-1 last time around.

I'm sure I could pull up plenty of my posts that are wrong, it just stuck out to me as I was catching up on the thread this afternoon
It is a focus of mine this year to refrain from posting when my negativity tendencies take over....I sucked as a poster/fan on this board last year and am determine to suck less this year

so that said...that was an excellent road series..needed the sweep in the worst way and was glad to see the bottom of the lineup contribute like that

here's hoping the bats stay hot and we can get a nice homestand against the rangerettes

When TED Ks in the WS and we lose y'all are going to look back and think "Dang, Farmer was right. He did need more experience in the show before being asked to play a big role in October"

Since it's an off day, I have a question. How do minor league suspensions work? For example, Whitley is suspended 50 games. Does that mean he has to sit out for the first 50 games of whichever team he played for last? 50 games that the Astros play?

He isn't making a playoff roster. He could be here for September call-ups if absolutely ready. Hell, just look at what White and Davis are doing to minor league pitching down there (and what they did in the Spring)... No need to rush him and dash his confidence or stop his progression.

He will probably be called up 3 weeks into next season or so (to keep that service clock from rolling over) after another full off-season and spring training.

Mets batted out of order today do to a screwed up lineup card. They list everyone twice in two columns for some weird reason.
the official scoring is very strange when this happens.

the #4 hitter Bruce was ruled out (via 2 unassisted) in the on-deck circle. And it counts as an official AB for him.
the #3 hitter (Flores) had his double taken away and was considered "skipped." His plate appearance was not an official AB.

would be interesting if this scenario came up during a no-hitter or perfect game.

also...not sure why the Reds didn't call out the problem after the #2 hitter (Cabrera) batted as he was penciled into the 3rd spot. However technically I suppose teams can skip batters in their lineup as long as they're willing to take the out too

Ok so why is Ted capitalized?
It evokes TED talks, which stands for Technology, Engineering and Design and are talks meant to inspire. TED is the ultimate culmination of the Astros. Their use of cutting-edge technology, a perfectly engineered prospect, designed for greatness.

Ted is a guy that fixes your brakes, or fixes your roof. TED is a guy that's so good at his job that you're not even sure what it is because he seemingly is great at everything.

Ted is the guy that hits on your wife when he's drunk at the office christmas party. TED is the guy your wife leaves you for and you're not even mad because you get it.

Ted is sentient stuffed bear in a mediocre movie. TED could fight a real bear and if they filmed it it would win an academy award. Every award. Even best animated short film.

Ted is just a name. TED is an icon.

Looks like the Rangers are in the Ed Wade/Tim Pupura days. A few aging stars (Beltran/Hamels/Colon), a couple of solid vets (Andrus/Fister) a couple of guys with potential (Mazara/Gallo) and a bunch of garbage around it with not much in the minors.

Their thread is amusing. They're trying to decide if they think a guy slashing .255/.298/.388 is worth keeping in the lineup over Odor

Yesterday I had a **** day at work, and I saw this when I pulled into the driveway. I didn't know if one of my neighbors was pulling some kind of weird prank, or if the HOA was giving me a not-so-subtle message that I needed to get rid of some leaves or grass clippings or something stupid (not the case by any means, but your mind goes weird places when you've had a bad day at the office).

I walked in and asked the wife if she had seen the broom outside, and she says: "Of course. I put it there. We swept the A's today."

It's so ridiculous that I forgot all about my bad day. She refused to take the broom down until 10pm. Pretty cool to have a superfan wife sometimes. I think I'll keep her.

I find it a confusing rule myself but there is no incentive to call it out until someone gets on base. You still have to have 3 actual batters come to the plate to get 3 outs for the inning. So, as the defense, you bide your time until someone gets on base and then you can go back and get an automatic out from that plate appearance.

The lead off hitter made an out

The #3 hitter hit next and made an out

The #2 hitter hit next and doubled. As soon as they threw one pitch to him, that legalized the #3 hitter's at bat. So, if the #3 hitter hit legally, the next hitter should be #4 (Bruce). So, when #2 doubles, the Reds said #4 should be the one that was at the plate and he is called out for not taking his proper at bat and the #2 hitter's at bat is erased.
R-Dog

And what's really wild is if the #3 hitter had gotten on following the lead off hitter.

The Reds would have protested then and the #2 hitter would have been called out for not taking his proper at bat.

The #3 hitter would have been removed from the bases and sent back to the plate to bat again since he would now be the proper hitter in the order.
