I've joked about this on here before, but I've always wondered how much money was spent on an ad agency or PR firm or whatever to focus group new unis/logos etc all to basically land on:
"Hey you know the look they used to have that people loved, what if we just go with that?"
Person B: "Like, just bring back all the old stuff?"
"Yeah, people really like it. We'll make some updates, but basically yes."
B: "Okay... well what about the mascot? Are we doing anything with that?"
"What was that one people really liked in the 90's?"
B: "The green guy? Orbit."
"Yeah, bring him back too. But like a cute version that kids will love. And I think we're done here."
Like as soon as I saw the new stuff in 2013 it was like "Oh, well yeah, obviously."
