Choo will be an interesting case.
He is predominately (although not exclusively) a DH. That eliminates most of the NL.
As of now, NYY, Cleveland and Houston with WCs: BoSox and Seattle, without any else really sniffing around.
Cano will be back for Seattle. LAA finds out in 2 weeks if Ohtani returns.
Not sure a market will open up for him.
Really hope JD can pull some magic at this trade deadline. If he can ship Hamels, Choo, and maybe Beltre for some top notch talent this awful season would be salvaged in my opinion.
That being said I think Hamels has ruined any chance he had at being top level trade deadline material. He's been awful this season compared to his older self. Maybe he's pissed off and a change of scenery will fix that, but he's certainly not doing himself any favors right now
I think Hamels can still be a difference maker if someone is willing to go after him. His splits are pretty good:
Home: 7 GS, 4.91 ERA, 1.341 WHIP, 44.0 IP, 36 SO
Away: 7 GS, 2.40 ERA, 1.161 WHIP, 41.1 IP, 49 SO
April/May: 7 GS, 4.08 ERA
May: 4 GS, 3.20 ERA
June: 3 GS, 3.54
He has 3 bad home games:
4/8: 5.1 IP, 5 ER
5/27: 6.1 IP, 5 ER
6/7: 7.1 IP, 5 ER
--------------------
19.0 IP, 15 ER
Else: 66.1 IP, 20 ER = 2.72 ERA
Also, don't forget RPs. I think that could be another benefit. Diekman is a FA. Barnette is controllable.
