It's not legal. They took collisions at home plate out of the game a few years ago because catchers (Buster Posey in particular) were getting their legs broken and suffering concussions. Kemp was clearly beaten by the throw. Chirinos wasn't blocking anything if the throw is there.

The twins made the right choice. The question is will the rangers?

Send Odor down when Elvis gets back.


Since June 1 Odor has an OBP of .383 and a BA of .256, obviously showing signs of turning things around.

No, they didn't outlaw all collisions.

I maintain that what I said is correct per that rulebook. The throw very clearly beat Kemp, therefore no blocking of the plate.

"Could Chirinos be there" and "could Kemp run him over" are two different questions.

Chirinos didn't violate the second element of the rule because he had the ball, but Kemp was still allowed to run him over; he didn't violate the first element.

This was my understanding as well. I thought the rule was to prevent catchers from blocking the plate without already having the ball.
Now, I would bet a lot of money that Kemp is getting a fastball in the ass next time we play for his stunt.

If it's for the collision, I would hope not. There really wasn't anything wrong with it. If it was for the little kerfuffle afterwards, then I would expect not since that will likely be water under the bridge in 2 months from now.

I imagine this is the last we hear of it. Both get 1 game suspensions. That should be the end of it.

RHP Bush to DL10 - Right Elbow strain
RHP Chris Martin to DL10 - Right Calf strain (from broohah against LAD)
LHP YoMen recalled pitching tonight (we already knew this).
LHP Martin Perez from DL10 to DL60. I think that was necessary for a roster spot.
C Chirinos - 1Day Suspension - Jose Trevino called from AA. Likely for a cup of coffee. Likely backup, and back down.

How much more rehab for him?

Carlos Perez came out of the game Friday dur to ankle. He is not in the lineup today, as would be expected with Chirinos back. It will be interesting to see what happens at C. Is Trevino ready?

Davis miraculously figured it out when MLB started handing out exceptions for Adderall.

It was confirmed when he tested positive for Adderall and indicated he had forgotten to renew his exception.
