Rua may have less plate discipline than Odor. Dude will swing at every first pitch.

Makes zero sense. He should have become a master at laying a bunt down the 3rd baseline over the offseason. Really tells the story of Banny's teams though. They always seem to put runs up early but then nothing in the 2nd half of games. Can not adjust their strategy or game plan to what opposing teams are giving them. Eerily similar to Jason Garrett and the Cowboys.

Does he have the glove work to play anywhere in the field? Sure looks like a career DH to me. Only 22 and already that bad. He's at the peak of his physical career

Gallo to Chirinos gets an out, and suddenly you have excitement and energy. Anything can happen.

I think the Rangers will get on a win streak, but there has to be a pivot event... something that dials in some players.

As is... Choo and Mazara are at least hitting.

Profar and Rua need to start taking advantage of the opportunity.

Beltre... I'd like to know if he has some targets he wants to hit... cause he has shown almost nothing. I know he had a light Spring Training, but the season has begun.

Odor is a streaky guy. Once he gets going, he'll compress all of his production into 2-3 weeks, and then fall off again.

Choo needs to be dumped for pennies on the dollar and Mazara needs to be at DH is what really needs to happen.

At $21M for 2019 and 2020, he is an expensive DH, but someone of value. If he carries a .300+ BA and a .350+ OBP, it is money well spent, IMO. Someone at the trade deadline would likely be looking for a LHB with those kinds of numbers.

You dump Choo, move Mazara to DH... who is your RF? Gallo? Then who is your 1st? Calhoun to DH, Mazara to 1st?! Too many changes mid-season, IMO.

This season is toast. Choo producing is great, because my primary goal would be maximizing what I can get for him (or at least making a bigger dent in how much of his contract I have to eat). I probably am evaluating who may be more salvageable in the OF long-term, Calhoun or Mazara, and they take the spot while the other DH's. Agree that midseason is probably not the time for a Mazara to 1st project. But it probably needs to get started sooner or later.

It constantly amazes me how you can watch so much baseball but not understand small sample sizes.

I'm not one for moving Choo for pennies in a year when you have a lineup that can barely muster 2 runs as it is, but "if he carries a 0.300+ BA and a 0.350 OBP, it is money well spent".

Yes, if Choo hits like he did 8 years ago when he was 27 and playing for the Reds then he will be money well spent this year.

That's not reality though.

And by "pennies on the dollar" for Choo because I can see that being interpreted more extreme than I really mean it, I mean that if I trade him, I can at least make a reasonably sized dent in what he's owed to make it worth it. If I can't make much of a dent, then may as well keep him since you're paying him anyway.

I had a nice little response and lost my info. In summary, Choo has been well above .350 OBP the past 3 years, so that isn't much of a stretch. 2016, he had all kinds of leg issues. Made some strides in 2017 (pardon the pun). He may not maintain .300, but a .275 isn't unreasonable. Add to that the 20+/- HRs...

Key for him, IMO, is remaining healthy.

That is much different You meant the oppposite. Pennies on the dollar, IMO, would mean you get someone to take any portion of his pay, regardless of how small.

You actually meant you'd pay some of his remaining, if you can get someone to take the bulk of it.
