And in retrospect, I am being way too harsh on the longhorns. When Bonfire hit, they offered to do anything, including rescheduling the game. They did not ask how their band honoring the dead at halftime contributed monetarily to any victims, etc. They dropped all pettiness about sports, money, playoffs, etc. They acted liked neighbors and Texans. Sure, it was all symbolic. But it sure seemed to help. My beefs with them were all on business dealings. But they did the "right thing" when it mattered.

Dude you're a *********idiot.

Did the Sips offer their stadium for 3 games, letting A&M be the home team, with all proceeds going towards the relief? Did the Sips then donate $1M to the cause after being publicly spit on by A&M's president? Did the Sips then proceed to donate 10% of all proceeds for the next home series towards the relief?

You do understand that was a scam and a total PR move by the Rangers? MLB decided on the Trop because no way in hell the other teams in the wild card race are going to let the Rangers play three more home games than everybody else. The Astros "declined" nothing. The Rangers knew MLB was never going to let them use a tragedy to scam three extra home games. C''mon man, think. No way MLB would let the Rangers do that. That is not how it works. And I actually know what happened. Which is why I am pissed.

$1M donation a scam? Tell that to the victims that need that money.

Even if the MLB made the decision to play at Tampa, Reid Ryan forced their hand after turning down JD. So I'll say it again. Ryan made the decision to play in Tampa. Why?
So you really believe that all the other playoff teams were going to let the Rangers play three more home games than them AND not have to play three away games at the division leaders? C'mon man.

Stop and think, do you really think MLB is going to let the the Rangers get three more home games than all the other teams in the playoff races? Do you really think those teams would just stand by and say nothing? This was a MLB decision behind closed doors. There were never going to be three games at Arlington, The decision came down to a neutral field or switching series. The Rangers floated that idea about hosting for PR reasons only from what I have heard.

A series switch would have been the most "fair" decision imho especially with the tragedy element thrown in. The Rangers refused so the Astros lost three home games. And got a hurricane. Win for the Rangers I guess.
Oh, okay. Glad I got that cleared up.

Believe what you want. Do you honestly believe MLB and the other wild card contenders are going to let the Rangers get away with that? When I. The history of MLB has a team in a playoff race been given three extra home games because the teams agreed to it? This is so blatantly obvious.

MLB didn't have an issue with the "extra" home games a few years back when the Astros-Cubs played in Milwaukee. Or when the Orioles had to move their series to Tampa either.

Apologize and we will talk. Same standard I hold to the sips.

Alright, as an Aggie and a Texan, I'll sake a sincere stab at it...

I am very sorry that the Texas gulf coast, Houston included, was hit by a terrible hurricane. I'm sorry that millions of lives, homes, and businesses were impacted adversely. I have already donated money, and I am donating goods and blood this weekend, to the relief efforts. I'm sorry it won't be enough.

I am very sorry that the Rangers organization didn't offer money and goods to the relief effort first, before working on a stupid schedule. I'm sorry that Daniels and the Rangers didn't more clearly separate the very real and serious relief efforts from the game of baseball. I'm sorry that the Daniels/Ryan feud put a negative public light on the matter.

I'm sorry that people have focused on this, and not on how to help, or on the aid coming from your brothers to the north and elsewhere.

I'm sorry to see Texans and Aggies go out of their way to create division when they should be pulling together. If my statements make me sip-like, and a few of you supposedly epitomize what it means to be an Aggie, I may have to investigate having a tattoo removed.

Take care.

Both sides made offers. Both sides turned offer down. MLB stepped in and said Tampa. MLB could have easily just forced a switch, but they didn't.

Because I know that MLB was not going to let the Rangers have three extra home games. But it has and will never happen in MLB that another team in a playoff race gets three extra home games.

And I am not assuming anything. I am just observing and seeing what happened. If anyone can honestly tell me that they believe the other wild card teams and MLB were going to let the Rangers have theee extra home games then they have a point. The Rangers "offer" was never going to happen. Now whether it was genuine or a PR move, I will honestly say I do not know. I would hope that if if was my team or organization that they would have acquiesced to the other team in this situation and switched series. It seems the obvious right thing to do.

Jesus wants a fair wild card race. Or ... maybe people are blowing this late September game location up when things that are actually important need to be dealt with this week, and emotions have spun WAY out of control about something that doesn't matter.

Quit deflecting. You are the one who first brought up being brothers in Christ. I don't think God cares about where we play baseball games. I do think He cares about assuming the absolute worst about others.

And if Ryan had not rejected JD's offer, I do think MLB would have allowed it.

That's your opinion. We have no way of knowing because Ryan rejected the offer which would have resulted in more money for relief efforts. If he was confident MLB would have rejected that agreement, then there would have been no concern in saying "yes".

Just stop assuming the worst about others. It's not healthy, especially as our city is underwater.

I think MLB would have gone along w/ whatever agreement the two sides came up with, especially given the severity of the situation in Houston. If not, then why even allow them to hammer it out themselves? We'll never know though, because both sides rejected the others' offer. I've heard nothing from MLB indicating that the Rangers offer would have been rejected by the MLB offices.

Let's break down this "home" aspect. Games would have been last minute. Middle of the week. 2nd week of school. Middle and HS football are having their first games this week. Anticipated outpouring of giving and support from individuals in DFW for houston, as there as been all week from citizens of DFW. Well, except for some ranger executives not agreeing to play 3 late September games in Houston. I really think the "home game" factor is being overestimated for what would have actually occurred this week.

Orioles games against Tampa were moved to Tampa when Baltimore was unable to host games, Tampa got "extra" home games: http://www.foxsports.com/florida/story/tampa-bay-rays-vs-baltimore-orioles-series-on-may-1-3-moved-to-tampa-bay-042815

Astros - Cubs moved to Milwaukee when the Astros couldn't host, although not technically a home game for the Cubs it might as well have been due to location.
