Spend your time worrying about something that matters. And for the record, the city of Dallas and metroplex has been fully supportive of Houston and other communities affected via donations/shelters/man power. So not sure where you're headed with that.
Cool dude... my entire family and loved ones live in south Houston. I grew up there and lived there for nearly 25 years. Everyone I know and everything in my hometown has been affected greatly by this storm so I've spent more time than you can imagine worrying about what matters this past week. Hop off your high horse, bud.

Not at all. Who knows what they were going to do. But why did people/teams/organizations all over the US start offering aid to Houston right when the storm hit but not our neighbors to the north?

Then the Astros come to them, obviously in need of help and with a truly viable solution, and the Rangers refuse.

THEN, two days later, the Rangers office says "wow, look at all this support Houston is receiveing from everyone across the country, including the Cowboys. We should probably do something too."

That doesn't seem a little off to you?

Exactly this. I appreciate the donations as do all houstonians... but they could have done the right thing to begin with.

I don't think Jacksonville really has any "home" games. I think they just have some games they play in Jacksonville. At least when they are not in London.

This is not a Houston vs Dallas thing. This is a rangers front office not doing the right thing argument. If a natural disaster struck our neighbors to the north, I would hope that we would not act as the rangers did. I would hope that we would do the right thing. If we did not do the right thing, I would call out the Astros for it.

I'll never understand people that will blindly defend something in the face of all known facts. Every rangers fan knows that they didn't do the right thing, but here we are several pages into this argument.

You Houston snowflakes are absolutely ridiculous. You guys act like The Rangers offered nothing and turned their back on their southern neighbors. When we both know that's complete bull***** Your ownership screwed your team and put them in an even more awful situation. By all means though, keep using The Rangers as your scapegoat while they keep whipping the Astros ass on the field. Reid Ryan is perfect for y'all.

Stay classy man!

Telling a poster to stay classy after calling Aggie Ranger fans sips. Either it's been too long since your last psych rotation or you missed the lecture on projection.

Either way, reading the constant calls for "ear holing the first batter up and throat punching Beltre every time he smiles" over on the Astros thread is very Baylor like. Since we're making comparisons to former conference teams and all.

sounds like most of the dallas fans on here are pissed at the Ryans for leaving and coming back home. I have said all along, I believe that this is all a result of behind the scene stuff from the days that Nolan and Daniels had their major differences, which resulted in Nolan saying to hell with it and coming back home.

Yall havent been near as good with Daniels in charge. From the first day Nolan started getting involved with the rangers and putting an emphasis on pitching is when you started getting good. Now that he has been gone, yall have not been near as effective. Kinda sounds like Daniels took a page out of the Jerry Jones playbook.

His ego got to big for himself and he ran off a baseball legend. If Jerry had kept his ego in check back when he had his college buddy winning superbowls for him, he might have several more.

None of that will ever come out in public though and that is fine. We will just go on and recover and keep playing into October.

Yall remember when one of your announcers made headlines for making fun of us Astro fans for acting like we had won the world Series at the all star break. Keeping it classy!!

Win with class, lose with class. We are all going to have both of those days and seasons. Just dont be an Ass about it

Neither side was wrong. Both sides could have been "more right". This wasn't some effort to screw over the Astros. Astros made an offer. Rangers made an offer. Both sides rejected and, as a result, both teams had to travel to Tampa.

Tbh, this shouldn't even be public knowledge. Reid Ryan running to the media created an issue that didn't need to be an issue. Surely Astros fans can understand the business side as to why the Rangers didn't swap. Surely Rangers fans can understand why the Astros wanted to swap. But now we're in a situation where Houston is still covered in water and baseball fans are hyperventilating about scheduling. Goodness. Relax. There are far bigger issues to deal with.

If I were JD, I'd have taken the Astros up on their offer. If I was Ryan, I'd have taken up JD on his offer. Why must we point fingers in some idiotic Houston vs Dallas pissing match about a game when people are actually suffering?

Still leading the AL actually, at the 80% mark. Is 80% greater than half? Once again... math.

I don't know that what the Jaguars are doing is really a good comparison. Yes, it's a great gesture. But not really the same. NFL players are gone at most probably 2 days for away games. So three away games in a row is really not big deal. Can't compare it having 12 straight road games in baseball

As for the timeline of when the Rangers decided to contribute $$$. There is a lot going on, especially trying to figure logistics for getting team to and from St. Pete. The good news is the Rangers ARE donating to the relief effort, and donating a lot

At the end of the day, both teams were making decisions that they represented the best interest of their own organization. I cannot believe this series is not being held in Arlington. I truly believe both could've worked together to create some sort of charity drive.

Do I think the home series could've been swapped? Yeah. It would've been a logistical nightmare in the short term with our ticket holders, but wouldn't have been the end of the world. It likely would've worked itself out in the long term.

My question is, if MMP were either inaccessible or unplayable for the Mets series, would Houston have accepted going to NY if they got to keep the DH or would they go to a neutral park? The question is admittedly moot because the games can be played in Houston with some modification, but I figure the stros would stay in Tampa or Miami or whatever park they could get other than NY.

As for the Jags offering to switch, its obviously a terrible sacrifice for them to offer to open the season at home and give up a game later in the season. Huge. Nobody wants to start the season at home, fans hate that.

The Rangers made a good faith offer that would have resulted in significantly more money going to Houston to help with rescue and recovery and the Astros turned it down because they wanted more. So they got whippings in Tampa Bay instead of sympathy in Arlington.

And JD never said it was just about the season ticket holders, that was one reason among many. But it was the most offensive so that was what got latched onto.

Yes, the Astros have had a great year. The point is that when they waved that flag, they hadn't accomplished a thing and the Rangers actually came back and won the division that season. Astros are good and got off to a great start that has allowed them to weather the injuries and maintain their lead. As Astros fans were quick to point out after the Rangers were knocked out by Toronto last year after having the best record in the AL, it doesn't mean a thing if you don't win a pennant.

The Astros organization had the come and take it flag?? Can you point me to this please. I missed that. I saw where some fans did but not an actual member of the Astros organization.

I get this thread is about ribbing each other, but there is no way you are going to convince many on here that it is the same when a member of the actual organization says that or it comes from one of the fans.

Also, don't get me wrong. I have no issue with the flag. That it backfired, as a Rangers fan, is hilarious. But this is a game and I have no problem with the back and forth. Let's not act like this is a one-way issue.

That said, I would have waited until actually accomplishing something before waving a flag like that, but as I said, it's a game. Have fun with it.

Can you point out the straw man arguments? As I said, I don't think either side was necessarily wrong, but both could have been "more right". There was a hint of self-interest on both sides.

Can we get this back to actual trash talk instead of hyperventilating over something utterly irrelevant given the situation here in Houston? You know, maybe talking about the Rangers outscoring the Astros 20-3 in the first 2 games of the series.

He's employed by the Astros and was given access to the field by the Astros, and the flag was likely paid for by the Astros.

I have no issue with them doing that. My point is that both sides engage in "trash talk", even the organization themselves. A Rangers announcer...Orbit...or this:

Let's not act like only one side does it. Thats the issue.

Still waiting for the math on how the location of 3 professional baseball games to be played in late September helps or hurts a flood victim.

Lemme clear it up for your thoughtless morons...

The Astros players and staff are Houstonians. Their families, homes, and belongings are all in Houston. Them and their families are all dealing with this flood just like any Houstonian is yet they're thousands of miles away. It would've meant a ton to these guys to be able to play just 4 hours drive away from their families and the place they call home. They haven't been home in over a week and I can't imagine what it's like to be away as these events unfold.

Jose Altuve asked Hinch and I quote 'How long do I have to pay with this on my heart?'. So if you don't think that the location of these three games didn't mean anything I don't know what to tell you.

And yes Daniels offered to play them in Arlington but it had strings attached. He made a business decision when it should've been a humanatarian decision.

The fact I'm having to explain this speaks volumes to the character of the organization and fan base.

And with that I'm done speaking on the subject. You either get it or you don't. Now let's get back to baseball.
gigem1223
How long do you want to ignore this user?
And all this could've been avoided if your president/ gm not made the dumbass decision to play this series at the Trop. Tuve needs to be asking Reid Ryan that same question, not Hinch.
