And every team in the wildcard race should have been on the phone to the commissioner calling BS

Asking the Rangers to sacrifice millions of dollars of revenue, screw their own season ticket holders and extend a road trip at the end of the season while they're in the wild card race (and Houston has already locked up the division) is a bull**** request. Houston could've played in their home state in front of plenty of their own fans, but chose Tampa.

**** a team for acting in it's own best interests while offering reasonable solutions to a team that is basically locked into the top seed in the AL.

Astros were scheduled to play every single game against the Rangers this year on a weekday

No weekend series

Cry me a ****in river about lost proceeds

Because swapping home & home makes zero sense financially

It would have been virtually impossible to promote and sell tickets to the games if the series is played here in Arlington this short of notice.

No it wouldn't. It wouldn't be the normal crowd but anyways, hope the Rangers enjoy paying to fly and put up a major league roster for 3 days on short notice on the Florida coast leading up to Labor Day weekend.

You conveniently cut out the second of what I said to fit your narrative.

Of course there would be SOME fans at the game if it were in Arlington. Maybe a few thousand, resulting in a fraction of the revenues the Astros get if the September series is moved to Houston since they'd have a month to promote it

I get it that it's your job to get people to the games. But seriously? Quit acting like having a few thousand less people at 3 games is going to ****ing bankrupt the organization when you have 81 home games every year

Regardless of what the Astros asked, the Rangers **** doesn't stink any less because someone else's might stink, too.

And, looking at the comparispn, at least the Astros offer included 3 games for each and didn't screw the rest of the league.

Ok Bernie Sanders, quit acting like millions of dollars of revenue is inconsequential to a business.

Hard to pin down how much the Rangers would be losing. They'll get their TV revenue, they'll get most of their ticket revenue and you want marketing, tie some sort of charity thing to the series and I betcha the fine folks of Dallas Fort Worth come out.

I'm most annoyed at the thought of getting 3 extra home games from the standpoint of the rest of the league.

This isn't football where you only have 8 home games to generate revenue.

Wow, lost a lot of respect for Reid Ryan for that quote. A team that is donating proceeds and willing to let you play in their stadium on short notice and you are mad that they refused to do what you wanted?

There's 60,000+ fans that already have tickets for the series in late September -- why would Texas screw over all of them just because Houston wants the advantage of playing at home?

It really sucks what is happening in Houston right now -- but what Houston is doing is akin to someone offering a place to sleep in your house and they get mad because they aren't getting the master bedroom and premium cable.

If you want to play 3 close to home as the "home" team, Texas would have accommodated. But they aren't going to screw over tens of thousands of their own fans just so Houston can keep the HF "advantage". It's one thing to ask for it, but to publicly whine about not getting it ridiculously petty and entitled.

60k my ass...By late September they'll be in the cellar and lucky to get 15k in that hell hole.

Oh yes, the sacrifice of hosting three extra games in the middle of a playoff race

Trying to be impartial here... This looks petty by both teams.

Petty by the rangers for not cooperating with a franchise who's city is going thru hell.

Petty by the Astros for not swallowing their pride and playing in Arlington.

IMO, the rangers won the pettiness competition, but hey is a rivalry.

Rangers really showing their true colors yet again with this one... and naturally, there are people on here blindly defending their loser ballclub. Truly a pathetic showing by rangers brass today.

From a fan of another team in the playoff race, thanks to Houston for forcing the Rangers to play on the road as their schedule and fairness asks for.

This. It takes two to tango. There was a better solution here than playing this week in Tampa but both sides failed to negotiate. Can't blame the Rangers for wanting it in Arlington, can't blame the Astros for wanting their home series back. This wouldn't be nearly as big of a deal if Reid Ryan hadn't complained to the media.

How can you imply that the Rangers don't care about humanity? You really truly believe that the Rangers don't care about what's going on in Houston?

This whole conversation is ****ing embarrassing. Neither side should be having to defend themselves. This situation goes way above sports

Rangers should have never even offered to play it in Arlington this week UNLESS the series would swap. They had to know the Astros would reject giving the Rangers 3 extra home games.

We're ALL Texans and I wish the Rangers would have shown some compassion and swapped the series. Karma is a b*tch and come late September they might be eliminated from the wild card and end up with less fans at the ballpark than they would have had this week.

If the rangers cared, they would have had a different response to the situation. Can't say I'm surprised, but it's still disappointing.

Rangers organization can EAD. This is going to make the rivalry that much saltier for a long time to come. Looking forward to watching bregman steal some bags while up 10 runs in the 8th inning.

It's a ****ing baseball series. Quit acting like the Rangers are turning away refugees. This isn't, and never has been, about compassion to EITHER organization involved. It's a baseball and business decision.

You still haven't answered my question. What is YOUR reasoning for moving the series to Houston?

If you want to take the "if [team] really cared route", why not just say if both teams cared they would cancel the series and stay in Texas and help the relief effort?
Ag_07

But but but...Daniels offered to give all the proceeds of a game that no one will attend to the relief effort.

The reasoning is to cut some slack to a team that has been away from their families while a natural disaster is occurring.

They could've been a short 4 hours away and had some piece of mind that they were close to home, playing in a familiar park, and in front of even a handful of their own fans, but thanks to the shlttiest organization around now they're off to fuggin Florida to play a game thousands of miles from home in front of an empty stadium.

I know they're your employer and you have some loyalty there, but fck the Rangers and fck Jon Daniels.

Rangers: "We don't want to play the September series in Houston due to the fact that we have thousands of fans who have already purchased tickets, and we don't want to have a 13 game road trip at the end of the season while we might be fighting for a playoff spot. We'll offer to play in Arlington close(r) to home for you guys, we'll play as the road team, and y'all have all ticket revenue or we can play in Tampa."

Which side is being unreasonable again?

The Astros literally had the option to do this, and take home all the revenue from it.

Winner. It's about doing the "right" thing for people and their families, and about showing a little compassion for those that have much more important things to deal with.

But hey they offered to play all 6 games in Arlington, right? What a freakin joke. Shameful.

If compassion for people and their families was the key concern here we wouldn't be playing a series at all this week.

On what ****ing planet is playing all 6 games in Arlington some sort of fair and considerate trade? lol at twisting the logic on that one. Of all the times it might or might not be appropriate to throw an organization a solid, this was it. But of course they still manage to strikeout on the softest of softballs. Per the usual, go **** yourself, Dallas.
