You understand that a previously successful team (especially over a span of 5+ years) will have more season tickets sold, right? Even if people don't show up? Especially given last year's results, there was no reason to get Astros season tickets - you'd always have a ticket available day-of except for the big games.
Worse teams will have more accurate attendance numbers.
So what you're saying is, Astros fans only attend games when the team is winning
Same with rangers fans which is why you guys aren't actually outdrawing us.
Ehh.. Our FSE base (sum of full season, half season, and all mini tickets plans) is right around 18,000 which is higher than last season. And that number continues to grows throughout the season. So despite a disappointing product on the field, new buyers know that if they get in now then they will likely be able to upgrade to more premium seats when current ticket holders make an emotional decision to not renew based off this season's results. It happens every year, and those same people who don't renew always come back either right before the season starts or at some point later when the Rangers are playing.
Every team has bandwagon fans. It's just that nobody cares to admit it.
