My dad and I have been going back and forth on the certainty of Saturday vs. Sunday. Everything about the Sunday game works better for us, other than the very limited and improbably uncertainty of the actual game.

I agree with your sentiments on this - but ranting on TexAgs about moving Springer from the 1 hole is not really work.

You are making a valid point that George would get a day off in the regular season, and that he is not a conventional lead off man (especially in NL games when you need baserunners and to move them around the bases). I argued against you in the NY series about dropping Springer down the lineup, but I can see the advantage of a more true leadoff hitter while playing at NL park.

First off, sorry for the tweet below. Not trying to relive the pain.

To me, it's clear from the video below McCann sets up down and in. Dallas just misses his spot....badly. So yes, it was a bad pitch that got him.

Turner is the one guy in their lineup I'm scared of.

Not that he's the only good player (because they have a handful of those) but he's the only one I'm legitimately scared that he could do some serious damage to us.

Sort of like the BoSox and Hanley Ramirez. That guy killed us and I hated having him step in the box.

Can we please stop talking about hitting the pitcher 8th? Our pitchers do not get regular at bats and so are likely not going to be anything better than a terrible hitter. Regardless of how bad any position player in our lineup is struggling, you do not want a terrible hitter to get more at bats than any of our regular position players. It simply does not make any statistical sense. The people who have analyzed this strategy have essentially concluded it only works and makes sense if you have a good hitting pitcher and bad number 8 hitter.

Unfortunately, there is no magic bullet. Springer and Marwin will need to step up at some point or we will lose. It is what it is and no amount of lineup tinkering is going to change it. Turner is basically the Dodgers version of Marwin during the regular season. Marwin definitely has it in him, as does Springer, so here is to hoping they figure it out this series.

Springer had a dry spell early in the regular season. Hinch didn't move him then and he sure as heck isn't going to move him now. We just have to hope that someone (Mr. Beltran, where are you?) gets into his head & convinces George he is a beast.

To me, the crazy thing about Springer is he batted .412 in the divisional series. I wonder if having been in a divisional series before helped him play more loose.

I also wonder if seeing his other teammates struggle has made him feel it's more on him than it really needs to be.

Either way, someone needs to be in his ear and remind him of is earlier postseason success as well as that the team has his back and he doesn't need to kill the ball. Remind him to go have fun at the plate - it's looking like he's dreading going up to bat.

Probably been covered by that was Turners first homer on a pitch up and in this season. Kuechel had gotten him up and in on the previous two ABs. Might not have been perfect but I don't think it was a huge mistake pitch. Turner made the adjustment and got it. Sometimes you have to tip your cap.

I agree with you. The only reason I posted it was because people were saying last night how stupid it was for them to go up and in on him like that.

I only said it was a bad miss because of McCann's glove position and where the ball actually ended up. Agreed that it still wasn't in an outrageously terrible location.

Pasadena academy was out of a lot. Most of the world series shirts they have are 3X or 4XL... but luckily I got the shirts i wanted online.
