I'm not saying you have to make Tuve the 1 but it would not be a dumb move by any means as shown by the numbers.

Most guys are getting good at bats and executing the strategy. Springer is guessing and not seeing the ball at all. When he is, he's swinging out of his shoes like he does in every slump he's ever been in. If he's untouchable in the lead off spot, then somebody, anybody on the coaching staff needs to do more with him than just telling him to keep trying. It's painfully obvious there's no adjustments being made with the hitters. It's a bunch of "we'll figure it out like he always do ."

And I'm fine with that argument. I think it would be worth trying moving him out of 1 at least a game or two, but I'm not saying it's completely stupid to leave him at 1. I just get tired of people saying that only people who are clueless about baseball would suggest moving Springer from the 1 spot.

I wouldn't hold your breath. I ordered one of the Take October hoodies they had in 2015 and it took several weeks if memory serves.

The issue is not moving Springer, it's if you do, who do you replace him with? There is no one in the lineup right now, imo, who would fit.

He needs to make adjustments. It's like he's fallen in love with the HR. George is at his best when he is trying to make contact. Maybe he should choke up and take a two-strike approach.

I think it's dumb because of the situation and the timing. We're pot committed and now just isn't the time for widespread lineup changes.

Kinda like how it isn't the time for resting players. Because I guarantee if this were the regular season George would be getting a day off to relax and regroup.

I understand not wanting to move him....but I also see the point that at worst we'd be at status quo getting zero production from our leadoff spot.....Springer needs to quit trying to hit homers and start trying to get the ball in play

a poster a couple of pages ago said it best...Springer has been seduced his homerun flurry the first half of the season and is desperately trying to get one now

The article I posted argued for starting Tuve back in the regular season mainly because of Springers love of the long ball. He has more HRs, Tuve has more walks. But if AJ wanted more of a long ball hitter in 1, then why not put someone who is at least hitting some of them in the post season?

Springer would still leadoff every time you turned over the lineup. Other then the first inning, that does nothing for the lineup except piss everyone off.

Defense looked great last night. Keuchel made a couple of mistakes but otherwise pitched really well. Devo had an old school Devo type inning which was good to see.
My biggest concern for this series is Dodger pitching coupled with this offensive slump that we've been in and out of throughout the postseason. I wonder if there is a little bit of pressure on the players and coaching staff to get that first WS game win for the franchise, hopefully that box gets checked tonight.
Either way, my goal for these first two games was to come away with a spit and that can still happen with Verlander on the bump. Let's get it!

Diddo. This is just an example of the onus being on the player.

There's no manager decision to blame and there's really no clear alternate. It's on George to get his ish together and start producing.

It's another reason why I don't agree with moving him. An automatic out is an automatic out whether it's the leadoff or the 9 hole.

Watching Kershaw brandish the bunt last night pissed me off more than it probably should have. The extra bat via the DH is a pretty big advantage for us that I hadn't considered prior to this series starting. I think we have considerably more offensive depth than the Dodgers, and we'll get to test the weaker part of their starting lineup with the extra bat in games 3 - 6. I still think were set up pretty good to take this series.
