+1. They're pretty much the only brand I wear nowadays, specifically their "franchise" and "clean up" lines.

A couple of years ago, I got the Colt 45s t-shirt that they made...it is my go-to game shirt. Very comfortable.

Do we at least know the probable time slots for the games next week?

Here was the schedule from last year. I'd assume it would be similar this year:

With all this talk about ending the season with Boston, and then beginning the playoffs with them, I'm wondering who remembers the other time that the Astros ended a season against a team and then matched up with them in post season? Without looking it up, who remembers? I kind of want to know how many other olds we have here.

I'm just a young buck, but without looking it up I would probably say the Cardinals in the mid-2000s

It could have happened then, not sure. So let me rephrase the question - who remembers the first time it happened?

The Dodgers in 1980? I didn't look but wasn't there a 1 game playoff with them right after the season ended? Or does that not count as it's really game 163?

I'm just hoping our ALDS games are at night. I got tics to games 1 and 2. I can't go if they're in the day.

Most likely Yankees and Twins are the two wild card teams. If the Twins get the 4 seed, their series with the Indians or Astros will for sure be the early games due to lesser ratings.

If the Yankees are the 4 seed, I think whoever the 1 seed is gets the night games

One amazing fact... and an amazing trivia question for other Astros fans. What season did the Astros score the most runs in franchise history? (This was on the postgame).

This season (pre-red sox series) - 874 runs

Spoiler...

2000 (938 runs)
- we lost 90 games that year. Kind of nuts to think it wasn't '98. Well, we didn't come close to that this year but I still feel like we have the most prolific offense I've ever closely watched. I'm pumped for the playoffs. This is our year!

In the 2000 season:

Bagwell - 138 RBIs
Hidalgo - 122 RBIs
Alou - 114 RBIs

Kind of crazy to see only three guys put up those numbers. Biggio that season only started 100 games and had 101 hits.

I think it's a good sign that this current roster spreads everything out. It should be a welcome change come playoff time.

The Dodgers in 1980?
Exactly. The Astros finished the season that year with a three game series in LA. They had a three game lead on the Dodgers going into the weekend so they needed to win only one game to clinch the NL West. And they lost all three.

A one game playoff was held and the Dodgers won a coin toss, so they got to host it as well. In sweeping the three games the Dodgers went through the top of their pitching rotation, but the Astros still had Joe Niekro left for the playoff game, and they won it by something like 7-1.

Didn't know it at the time, but winning that playoff game set the Astros up for the ultimate heartbreak against the Phillies. It's still tough to think about that last game.

The Twins clinched last night so now they probably won't play as hard today. I think the #1 seed is a long shot as we would need the Indians to lose at least 2 and us win all 4. Or they lose 3 and we win 3.

If you need to unload those game 2 tickets if it's during the day, let me know.

Agreed, and we aren't pitching Keuchel and Verlander in the BoSox series.

Now I want the Twins to beat the Yankees in the WC game so we are more likely to get night games.

I just hope we don't get the 12:07 first pitch... I'd be okay with 3 or 4 PM. But 12 is the equivalent of an 11 am football kickoff

I want the twins to win because they seem to be having at least marginal success against the Indians.

My wife is a huge Astros fan and will be going regardless. So can't give them away. Hell she's the one who stood in line at stadium to get them

I just want to take time to reflect on this last series in Arlington.

I'm glad the Rangers didn't switch the series with us and force their fans to miss out on seeing history in the making

  • First time in Ranger history that they've given up 11+ in three consecutive games
  • First time in Astros history that they've won 3 consecutive games by 9+

Historical series that I'm glad all 27 Ranger fans in attendance got to witness. I would've felt horrible if they wouldn't have had that opportunity.

Verlander likely to start Game 1 according to this article

Also of note in that article. Watch the 11 Ks in 11 seconds video: 10 of Verlander's 11 Ks were against lefties.

How is it that baseball can't get a better schedule than this? I'm sure 99% of fans would rather have games overlap than be during a business day.

I loved afternoon playoff games back when I was in school. Go get some friends together, skip class and head to the bars. Completely different story being a working stiff

especially with them being on completely different networks. You would think overlapping games from 3-9 (west coast games) wouldn't be an issue

It is not a matter of baseball can't get "better" time slots, baseball wants the schedule the way it is. The powers that be believe that baseball fans want the opportunity to watch all the games live. Love me some meaningful day baseball to distract me at the office in October just like I love the day games during the NCAA tourney in June. That being said, I hope the Astros avoid the early games. I have a feeling that since all the AL teams come from the Eastern or Central time zones and the NL will have two teams from the Mountain or Western zones for the Divisions Series it is likely that AL games will get that early game.
