Dude is hitting .201 since the All Star break that would be a horrible look for MVP voters.

I look at it this way...if we can get all our studs playing the way they were in the first half hopefully the incredible road record will come back too and home field won't be as critical. Obviously we'd love to have it but no team was better on the road than we were in the first half.

I don't think home field is the concern. Having to beat both the red soxs and Indians is more the concern.

Porcello had no business winning the Cy Young last yr either. Fact is, Boston and NYY just get the major market advantage...

Judge would be a joke

Should an MVP candidate be leading the league in strike outs?

Judge is the modern hitter that does nothing but swing for the fences.

We want home field guys. We currently have a 5.5 game lead for home field and are 1.5 games back from top seed in AL, with 12 games left. Not sure why some are acting as if we've practically lost it.

There's no guarantee you'll have to play both.

Hell in 2015 we were the WC team and took the 1st seed Royals to the brink.

To me worrying about the route your going to have to take is pointless. I want home field advantage so that no matter who we play they have to play here.

I was just reading over the box score from last night's game...Altuve had 4 official ABs. And saw only 4 pitches all night. First ball hitting all 4 ABs. And, he went to RF a number of times as I recall.

I can't remember his 4th right now, but his first 3 were hard fly ball to the right field warning track, opposite field home run, and line out to exactly where the right fielder was standing, respectively.

4th AB was when he grounded out to third and springer slided in home

Forgot that one because I was admiring Speinger's slide.

Not sure if any of you watched the postgame but both Springer and Hinch mentioned that George got a talkin to from AJ specifically telling him that although the hustle is appreciated he didn't wanna see that kinda slide until October.

Kinda funny to hear them both grin and mention that it wasn't the smartest decision.

Have to agree with Hinch on that. Head first slides haven't exactly been our friend this year.

This is not meant to be a gloating post, but I have to share my excitement.

My dad is a huge astros fan. He also has multiple sclerosis and is semi-bound to a wheel chair. With the help of a buddy of mine who works in baseball, I was able to get ADA tickets to the Friday ALDS game. I didn't think we would be able to pull it off, but we did. I am so fired up to get to take my dad to a playoff game at MMP and for him to get to experience how electric that park can be.

I'd like to say that fanatics.com sucks. ******* shame when they're the only place to buy postseason gear and they can't keep anything in stock.

Pete, not close to gloating at all.

One of my biggest regrets of my life is in 2015 when I had to turn down ALDS tickets that my dad had to go to my gf's half brother's baptism.

That gf cheated on me and now I look back and wonder where my priorities were. Enjoy the game with your dad. I got to make it up by going to the HOF with him this year to see Baggie get in.

Imagine Springer playing on a Biggio or Bagwell lead team...

Also, imagine Hinch telling Biggio not to give max effort at all times... haha.

the strategy for the final series at Fenway will be very interesting.

as the Red Sox' rotation stands right now...Chris Sale would be scheduled to pitch the last game of the season on Sunday, October 1st.

so even if the Indians clinch the #1 seed a few days earlier (and assuming the Yankees remain within striking distance)...the Astros need to press Boston hard to force them to pitch their best guys the final weekend

That's awesome. No matter the outcome going to be a great experience for you and your dad. Although an Astros win would be the icing on the cake.

Even if a team locks into a playoff seed, no team can rest because they are competing against all NL teams for WS home field rights.
Ag_07

Interesting for sure.

Question is...Is it worth playing your guys vs resting them in an effort to get Boston to pitch their guys who you'll see in the ALDS regardless? Because making them pitch will just change the order they appear and actually may help them.

It may not be such a good thing to Sale later in the ALDS.

I know I'd rather face Sale in game 1 against Verlander or Keuchel going. I don't want to have to score a lot of runs because our #3 had a rough outing and look up and see Sale on the mound.
DVC2010

If you don't see Sale in game 1, you won't also see him in game 5.
