Do these numbers take into account Keuchel and Morton's numbers? If so those aren't entirely accurate.

And I'd love to see where we rank as far IP for a rotation. I would think that's down near the bottom of the barrel.

Justin Verlander, old and contract, but we get to see Kate Upton rocking a rainbow jersey, so pull the trigger on this trade.
Trevor Cahill, injured and no track record
Clayton Richard, no track record
Jason Vargas, not a great track record
Jaime Garcia, back end guy

We are 5th in the AL in IP by starters

The Red Sox starter numbers are heavily skewed by Chris Sale. They dont have much trust in Price, Porcello, or Pomeranz right now.

I assume it takes into account every starting pitcher's stats when they start.

So, yes, Keuchel & Morton would be taken into account.

Comparing Fiers numbers to Gray's doesn't make much sense unless you start comparing from the point that Fiers basically replaced his slider with a cutter that's made him so good of late.

After Irish posted an article on Gray which states that he doesn't even really know what type of pitches he's making and going purely off feel, I lost a bit of interest in trading for him.

The fact that he has 4 breaking balls, 2 fastballs, and a change up makes you lose interest?

That doesn't bother me so much.

That just tells me that him working with Strom and McCann will mostly likely help him a ton.

Remember that in 98 Randy Johnson's numbers weren't all that good in SEA. He came here and absolutely dominated. Sometimes it just takes a change of scenery and a reason to perform.

A good pitching coach, solid battery mate, and the league's best offense could wonders for an under performing pitcher.

And this could be entirely true, I'm just not willing to trade 2/4 of Martes, Paulino, Tucker, and Bregman which IMO is going to be the minimum required to swing a Gray trade.

If we could get him for Paulino and Fisher (which i suspect they might entertain) i would consider it..

Edit: I'm not that high on Gray though so if it's gonna be more expensive it'd be a hard pass from me..

I was kind of bummed when Fish went back down to AAA, but Reddick has been playing some nice ball since coming back from the concussion both offensively and defensively.

Ok... so I wanted to dig in to a big board looking at what players will be where over the next few years. I'm in on dealing some outfielders. Big time.



We will have an outfield of Reddick, Springer, and Marisnik through 2020... and that's with Kyle Tucker very likely showing up in 2018 or at least for sure in 2019.

That joker is set for a while.

And let's not forget Marwin. He's played 19 of his 59 games this year in the OF. I doubt we want to let him go after 2018.

That's why I think Fisher will be included in a deal.

It sucks because he's a good player but he's ready to play now and we just don't have a spot for him. I'd rather trade him then platoon him with Marisnick.

Something like...Fisher/Paulino/Davis/Perez for Gray/Doolittle

The more I look at Doolittle the more I want him.

McCann in 2019 is a mutual option.

I am not sure why Altuve is listed like he is. He is under contract those years.

Interesting question I think: Would you rather trade Fisher in a deal, or Marisnick today? That's assuming Fisher would be called up and play nearly everyday. Let's also assume the player chosen doesn't affect who else is in a deal.

Fisher. Marisnick is adding real value to this team today. He is also a big part of the clubhouse and our best defensive player.

I think Fisher ends up as a nice everyday regular, but he cant help this team like Marisnick can.

Spotrac saves Altuve's market value is 21.4M. He's making 17M this year plus '18 & '19. Easily one of the most underpaid guys in baseball who are off their rookie deal.

Fisher is at worst a platoon starter next year with Marisnick. He has very consistent numbers at every level. He doesn't strike out too much, he walks plenty, has developing power, good speed, and good contact skills.

Hell no to giving him up for a guy who is injury prone and not a guarantee to be as good as our #3 starter. No way.

Paulino, Hernandez, Reed, Kemp, and some low level arm is what they would get from me. They don't take it, I don't deal. Sorry. I don't make moves involving potential impact players when the upgrade isn't gauranteed. And no upgrade on the market is guaranteed. Whether injuries, control, up and down years, etc.. they all have issues.
