I'd honestly bring up Tyler White for Gustave. And start against LHP. He hit very well against LHP last year and could pinch hit against lefty relievers as well.

You're right.. and I know we create a lot of runs from the aggressiveness.. but I still want to see us be better at situational baserunning.
I agree with this. I may be suffering from authority fallacy a little with the Astros, but I can't help but trust that if their data says to do it, then they do it. Those folks making those decisions are a lot smarter than us.

I do hate to see some of the dumb TOOTBLANs outside of the ones caused by being aggressive. Springer's inablity to steal a base. Folks getting picked off, etc.

Hinch just said something interesting during his presser.

For one of Trout's ABs they opened up 2B using a shift and he right through the open hole and he considered that a win.

I really think that's one reason we see shifts. Not that they're shifting to get an out but shifting to bait a guy into hitting a single through a hole. Not shifting him may give him the green light to drive a gap.

Just an interesting take on something we see often and think is so frustrating.

I just caught up on all the posts since the game started last night and wanted to address a few comments, but I'm not going to go find them now.

After Sunday's win, Hinch said that he prefers not to use Devo for so long precisely because he's unavailable for a few days. Last night we got two solid innings including the scariest part of the lineup in a close game. That's exactly how I want to see him used.

Which brings me to my next point: every team wants Andrew Miller. We don't need Andrew Miller; we have Chris Devenski. That's why he should not be in the rotation.
