They thought Morton was using the gum to get some tackiness on the ball for grip, similar to using pine tar.

I actually have 6 links, and was getting super pissed the more info I looked up...So, look it up yourself, I am not going to fight about something I know to be true, to a person who would just as soon see me in prison or dead.

Morton was chewing a hug wad of gum. He was holding it in his teeth and touching his pitching hand to the wad of gum.

Girardi cried about it to the umps and they made him stop. Assuming it's considered a foreign substance.

Don't think it made a difference but technically I guess it is.

Trivia time, name the other Astros who had marked seats in the rainbows for homers landed up there?

Eric Anthony had one
Yep, I remember Anthony as well.

I'm trying to remember, but wasn't there a crazy deep shot the last year in the Astrodome? I was at the game but can't remember who hit it.

Used to be a pitcher couldn't even bring his hand to his mouth. That was an automatic balk.

Didn't Hatcher's shot in NLCS Game 6 make it?

Not sure, but I did get to see Billy Spiers hit an inside the park home run the last year in the dome. That was pretty cool. I think Lima pitched that day.

I'm no Houstonian, and I'm not nearly on the level of fandom that you are, but the Astros are my favorite, starting with Nolan in the 80s, then the Killer B's in the 90s. My first pro baseball game was in the dome, and that place was just enormous to a 5 year old.

Hatcher's HR hit the foul pole maybe halfway up. Would have been deep into the mezzanine but I don't think it would have even made the loge level. I was sitting in the mezzanine behind the pole about 20 feet into fair territory.

There were two more I am aware of but they were never marked. Simms and Everett. Those were the last two.
Youre exactly right. Carl Everett. Loved that guy the two years he was here. Then he was on the White Sox in 2005, and I hate him now!

If he can't do anything but run and maybe play defense I can't see using him. You couldn't afford to have his spot come up in the lineup.

Kind of hoping Beltran will take his spot next year.

is parking really that expensive during the postseason? I paid max $25 when I went to a regular season game

Park 4-5 blocks away on the street for free or like $2-3 if getting near the stadium super early. Downtown has TONS of street parking.

i may or may have after partied with Jim Crane, Marisnick, Verlander and Kate last night.

I asked Jake myself if he was gonna play, and he said he wasn't sure but he felt good

It was $50 for 2005 W/S

You can park at Fanin and 610 for nothing at the light rail station and take the train to downtown...real easy and real cheap

parking was stupid expensive. the big lot next to Lucky's was $50 yesterday. The spot next to the HTX Tavern was $80. The normal $10 spots where I usually park near were $30

supply/demand - hard to fault the people who own them.

Park for free downtown and walk or can easily find garages for $10-20.
