If Texas makes the playoffs, and Calhoun hits well enough to deserve to be on the playoff roster, Texas will call him up to the playoff roster as an injury replacement.

I don't recall how that works, for injury replacement.

Don't they have to be on the 40, in order to be eligible to be on the 25? Injury replacements are during a series and now during the playoffs, no?

For example, you are in the ALDS... someone on the 25 gets injured and someone on the 40 can be moved to the 25 for the rest of the ALDS?

Between series, they can change their 25, as well, right? So, you could have a P for example who sucked in the ALDS, so you replace him on the 25 for the ALCS?

Regardless... don't they have to be on the 40, on Sept 1, in order to be eligible for the playoffs?

Looking forward to seeing what Calhoun can do. Kinda surprised he's in LF, but I guess that makes sense with Mazara being a little banged up.

They only put Beltre on the DL so that they could bring Gardewine back up. Since his days are up, may as well activate him. He's still not playing until the playoffs, at earliest.

A little surprising he is in LF, but it does probably speaks to the injury situation.

For non-injury callups, yes.

You can have a non-Sept1-40-man player eligible for the playoffs if he is replacing someone that is injured on your 40 though. It requires commissioner approval, but Texas has a handful of players that 100% won't be playing in the playoffs that they could have "replaced" by Calhoun (Prince, ChiChi, etc...).

Lets hope it comes to that. Need to sweep the damn Mariners.

Be interesting to see what he can do. Newberg had a good point in an email a while back that if Calhoun is brought up it is because the Rangers think he can help in the wild card race. He isn't rule 5 eligible so wouldn't have to go on the 40 this offseason so bringing him up (I think) means one more of our guys will be exposed to the rule 5 draft.

If only Maz could play first and swap Gallo to 3rd. That'd be a pretty salty line up.
