Up until about 2 months into this season, people were denigrating Andrus.

I can't search old posts, but I've posted that Andrus could end up statistically one of the Top 5'ish SSs in almost every category... if only for longevity.

He is 29 and 1322 GP as a SS... this his 9th year. He has averaged 147 GP/yr (counting this incomplete year).

He is signed for 6 more years (age 34). If he averages 147 GP @ SS, that's 882 more GP. A total of 2204.

I think Jeter and Vizquel are the leaders for GP at SS.
Jeter has 2668. He was 40 in his final season.
Vizquel has 2649. He was 45 in his final season.

You are looking at just over 3 years. He would be 38'ish.

I would have pay to get stars so I could research. As far as I recall, up until about mid-season, when we were talking about selling off players, the consensus by most on here was the contract was an anchor that would keep Elvis with the Rangers unless we ate most of it.

If you just split the blown saves, they'd be almost at 80 wins and securely in the #1 WC spot.

Meh. I'd have rather sent Grilli, Gardewine or Espino out there on a leash. Then possibly have Diekman for the next 2 games.

Getting Diekman and last years version of Barnette back is so big for the bullpen. Once Kela and Bush come back we'll have some pretty good depth.

Anyone with half of a brain knows that Reid Ryan is a vindictive moron who tried to use a freaking natural disaster to con the Rangers into taking a bad deal.

The Astros didn't even need to do it either. They already have the AL west all but wrapped up, along with probably hosting a first round playoff series.

I think even the 'Stros fans know he was stupid for what he did. But will never admit it.

We'll know after the season. The fact they went 1-2 in Tampa against the Rangers should further be a smack to the organization. Who would want to play for them. When your 1st Rd pick (Brady Aiken) gets screwed around, you know there are problems.

Anything short of a WS appearance is a failure, IMO. And if they don't make the WS, we'll see if the fans and players feel it is worth supporting the organization.
