Never put a whole lot of stock into Bleacher report...

That being said, I don't see us being 4th best in AL West, no matter how improved the others are.

The Texas Rangers racked up more lucky wins than anyone in 2016. That points to a 36-11 record in one-run games that screams "Regression!" for 2017.
The question is how much regression they can avoid. Their lineup can help in that regard.
The Rangers ranked fourth in the AL in runs last year, and can now look forward to upgrades at first base (Mike Napoli), catcher (Jonathan Lucroy) and at least one in the outfield if Nomar Mazara takes the next step. Further, more good defense is in store.
The Rangers also still have an underrated bullpen. Sam Dyson and Matt Bush bring nasty stuff, and Jeremy Jeffress showed elite contact management skill last year.
Ah, but that rotation. Cole Hamels and Yu Darvish make for a terrific one-two punch. But after them, there's no one there. A blockbuster trade could fix that, but the Rangers are short on prospect talent.
Factor in the tough AL West environment, and the Rangers are in for a rougher ride in 2017.
Prediction: 83-79, 4th AL West

Oakland is a pretty safe bet to be last. I'm not seeing the Angels or the Mariners finishing ahead of the Rangers, barring a rash of key injuries. It'll come down to the Rangers and the Astros.

I keep hearing that the Mariners and Astros made GREAT improvements in the offseason, but I just can't see falling behind both of them. I think the Mariners might hang around till the all-star break or a little after. As much as I dislike the Astros, I don't see us dominating them quite as much as in the past so it will make for a last week of the season division title.

Seems like every year we hear about the mariners making a huge leap and being the team. Then they crap the bed. The 'stros are kind of in that same boat. They have great talent but until i see it consistently produce im not going to buy into that team. The Rangers fly under the radar and produce. I'm thinking this year will be more of the same.

Remind me again what the Halos did for SP... at the MLB level, and MiLB depth.

Their SP is terrible. Seattle has players at positions, but no real strategy to win games.

Houston needs to learn how to win.

Team looked good today in the game against the Dodgers. Beltre left the game after his 1st AB but Banny said was nothing to worry about. Hamels looked good as did all of the bullpen guys. Left a lot of guys on base.

What role will CJ Nitkowski play in the booth?
I thought I read he was just taking Knox's spot with fans and stuff. He's not replacing Grieve is he?


Edit: just looked it up, Nitkowski will replace Grieve. Tom will just be an analyst for around 70 games. Didn't know that.
