Agreed. I'm always evolving on the bat flip issue, but the non-hustle is really my gripe. I've been a Rangers fan my whole life, which qualifies me to tell you that they won't. And we're about to waste 6 weeks finding out the inevitable. Hope I'm wrong.
I think AJ did an awesome job last year to start the year. He would be a very serviceable back of the rotation guy again this year. He pitches smart and I like that.

I had the same thoughts last year. I think he will be a decent option for the back of the rotation.

He needs to play every day and prove himself. He would be better served in AAA. If they put him on the roster he doesn't really have a spot, and would be sitting too much. If he keeps hitting in AAA then figure out a way to get him pt on the big league team.

The problem is, it's almost impossible to find a way to get him AND Profar playing time. It's looking like Rua will be our opening day LF, then Choo will DH.
I'd be fine with him heating up enough to actually pull something back in a trade again.
If Gallo keeps hitting, you can find a spot for him someway, or include him in a trade. One (or several of) Gallo/Profar/Rua could get traded. For all we know, somebody might get injured and that opens up a spot.
But at this point, I don't trust Gallo enough to hit big league pitching to trade somebody to make him a spot. If he continues to hit in AAA, then you consider it. JMO

Hopefully that lesson sticks with him. Glad to see it happen now vs. with the Rangers.
I worry a little about what that means. Seems like making sure a contingency is in place. Hope it's purely just a chance to lock up a decent backup for a little longer.
I'd assume it's both. Need to have someone signed if they can't retain Lucroy and he's definitely a worthwhile backup.

I don't see that as showboating. He, wrongly, assumed the catcher would just ask for timeout to replace the ball after its been hit and thrown in from the outfield. So lazy/careless more than anything
