Phil garner says to f off

So frustrating because Feldman struggled with location so much in the first 4 innings. Then in the 5th, he throws one of the best innings I've ever seen him throw. WTF is his problem?

Whatever Strom has been doing with our pitchers, he needs to stop. They've all had nearly the exact same issue. Even Keuchel (though he seems to recover his control much quicker).

Here's my plan:
1) Wait patiently for McCullers and bump Feldman to long relief duty
2) Start teaching Bregman LF asap
3) Cut ties with Gomez, move Rasmus to CF, call up Bregman to play LF
4) Cut ties with Valbuena, call up Moran and let Moran/Marwin rotate at 3B
5) Cut ties with Gattis and call up Reed
6) Get a better situational hitter in the 2 hole and move Springer down
This lineup would excite me in June/July (although it may be 1-2 years away from championship mode):
1) Altuve 2B
2) Bregman LF
3) Correa SS
4) Rasmus CF
5) White DH
6) Springer RF
7) Reed 1B
8) Moran/Marwin 3B
9) Castro C

I like it in the future but right now that would taking a step backwards.
Bergman is not better than Gomez
Reed is not better than Gattis
Moran is not better than Valbuena

Let's just not waste great hitting like we did in 2000 with this.

Why do you guys see his defense as suspect?
I think he's been pretty good and even better than expected. I can think of two plays that he didn't make and one was due to a busted glove. The other was the grounder that he didn't snag after drifting too far to not cover once Altuve got it in the hole.
He's made some nice plays and has been solid on the routine stuff. Some work is needed to fine tune it but he's ahead of where I thought he'd be.

I admire your confidence in Gattis and Gomez. Haven't met too many other Astros fans who share it.
quote:I dunno man. Gattis finished last year with a .285 obp, .748 ops and 0.5 war. Maybe I'm a little too bullish on Reed, but I think he could give us those numbers as a minimum + he can play in the field + he has considerably more upside. With that said, I'd take Gattis over Gomez or Valbuena.quote:

I think Gattis will be what we got out of him last year, and I'm okay with that. Keep in mind the dude has been injured. He deserves a shot and support.
Gomez... I just don't know. Love the way he plays with emotion. LOVE it. But I haven't seen this fantastic defense that he's supposed to have (although maybe he's a guy that makes hard plays look easy, I don't know), and his bat has been ice cold since he's been an Astro... And this is a pretty decent sample size.
