It doesn't help when you've got a guy like Prince (who hasn't hit all season) and Mazara (who hasn't hit in over a month) in that lineup.

Reminds me of the lineup in 2014 where we needed to score in odd numbered innings because there was a certain stretch of the lineup that simply wasn't going to string together hits.

I don't mind Griffin in the rotation, he's fine as a #5 guy. We've certainly gotten our money's worth.

But you can't hand the ball to a guy in the playoffs that is more than likely going to give you 5IP/4ER unless he has dominated that specific team (Gallardo vs Toronto last year).

In the playoffs most every contender's rotation consists of guys that are capable of giving you a gem.

Griffin has given you one gem all season -- almost 3 months ago against a mediocre Yankees team.

Hamels (2): 12GS, 8QS, 3.66 ERA, 1.20 WHIP
Perez: 14GS, 9 QS, 4.46 ERA, 1.42 WHIP
Gallardo: 33GS, 12 QS, 3.42 ERA, 1.42 WHIP
Holland: 10GS, 4 QS, 4.91 ERA, 1.30 WHIP

This year, we have:
Hamels: 19GS, 13 QS, 3.00 ERA, 1.28 WHIP
Perez: 19GS, 12 QS, 4.05 ERA, 1.42 WHIP
Griffin = Gallardo: 11GS, 4 QS, 3.67 ERA, 1.24 WHIP.
Darvish: 4GS, 0 QS, 3.15 ERA, 1.20 WHIP

Hamels has put up better numbers. He entered the AL mid-season.
Perez has put up better numbers. He entered mid-season from TJ.
I think Gallardo and AJ could be considered exchangeable.

So, we replace Holland with Darvish.

Bigger picture... I can't imagine Perez goes deeper than 160-180 IP. I haven't heard a limit, but Harvey and Strausburg are both examples of limited PC during recovery. He is at 113.1 IP. That gives him about 57-67 IP. At 6IP, that's about 9-11 GS. We have 69 Games left, or 14GS per rotation.

I don't know if Colby will provide anything.

But, we are on the edge. Any problem (which will occur) creates a crisis.

Not sure how many games this team can win with Desmond swinging a cold bat. His hitting seems to directly correlate with the Rangers winning. Someone needs to step up and carry this team till he gets back on track.

Griffin and Gallardo are only interchangeable if whomever we face in the playoffs is a team that Griffin has dominated.
