Martinez is nowhere near major league ready.
He's just not a major league pitcher. It's not as if he's throwing 98 and not hitting his spots. He's just not good and doesn't have command.

I'm skeptical about Pomeranz and while I think there is interest, JD doesn't seem like one to take a risk on a player like Pomeranz. His success as a SP is limited. I think I saw Newburg threw out the cost being Brinson + Cordell?! Two potential Rule V guys for a SP?!

Maybe on Cordell, but the roster will look wildly different by December.
I know stats are only half the story with a minor leaguer, but he's leading Frisco in pretty much every category. 2Bs, 3Bs, HRs, SB, BBs, SLG %, OPS, etc.
He seems like one of the natural choices to slide into one of the spots that will be left after guys get released, head towards free agency, see their contracts end, etc.
We'll see. We won't know anything for sure until December.

And I don't think Cordell is ready for the big league yet but he can finish the year at AA. Slide onto the 40 man and go to MLB camp and Round Rock and if he's doing alright, he can spend some time with the big club next August and September.
Trade him if you get talent in return that will help the club, for sure, but I personally am not letting him getting away for not enough in return just because I have to stick him on the 40 man roster. I hope that makes sense.

And we are handicapping ourselves by holding on to Holiday. He won't clear waivers, but it's not as though there aren't 20 other guys just like him that could be had for a bag of balls and a cold miller lite.
