Rangers traded for catcher Bryan Holaday from the Tigers. Gave up Myles Jaye and Bobby Wilson.

Didn't think Wilson was all that bad of a player, but hopefully Holaday can be quality depth/the third catcher. Isn't he young? There could be some potential there. Sounds like he had a decent spring statistically.

The article I read said Holaday will be on the opening day roster and Gimenez will be designated for assignment. Daniels says they hope Gimenez will accept the assignment and stay with the organization rather than become a free agent.

That's very interesting... I thought Gimenez was kind of Hamels's personal catcher?

I thought Gimenez was hurt?

Same article said he has a foot infection but they expect it to be cleared up in the next day or two.

Newberg this morning said he had some ankle issue that put his readiness for next week in question. that's what i was basing my statement on. Who knows if Jamey is right. I've barely been paying attention to spring training this year other than NB and this thread and the occasional story on the ticket.

Whole lot of question marks for this team (catcher, closer, power hitting being the main ones IMO).

True, but other batting lineup concerns make it even more significant that we can't have a guy hitting 0.220 there for the season.

There's just not a lot in the lineup that you can look at and know what kind of #'s you are going to get. Choo and Odor had ridiculous 1H/2H splits. Moreland has never been able to string big productive seasons together. Fielder has been hitting a LOT of ground balls in spring training again... and Beltre can only fight off Father Time so long.

I agree with all of that.

If that's the promo shot I'd hate to see what actually gets served at the ballpark.

They need to bring the noodles back... They had them for one season, and I actually scoffed at it when I passed since it wasn't "traditional ballpark food", but I'll be damned if multiple times the last few seasons I just wanted some good stirfry/noodles out at the park.

I'm about as far from a food snob as you can get, but the only ballpark food I ever feel satisfied after eating is the soft tacos they sell out in centerfield.
