Agree. Throw Prince's bat in the garbage while you're at it. I'd be fine with Gallo and Profar trading off at 1st and DH, with Rua in the mix too.

My god this game has been so frustrating. I don't care if Gallo strikes out literally 7 out of 8 plate appearances. He is a better athlete than Fielder, and my god at least you feel like there's a CHANCE he could get a hold of a ball and leave the yard. I'll say this right now: By about 2020, Fielder will be one of those guys being paid to not play baseball. Absolute trash. With his lack of power he needs to be hitting about .400 to justify that contract. Let's just please move the hell on. Bring up Gallo.

Gallo has 70 or so days of service time.

He'd require another 100+ days of service time to lose a year of control.

As of today, there's only 80 or so days left of regular season baseball left.

Extra year of control isn't the issue with Gallo. I imagine the thought process was hope the all-star break allowed Prince to reset and possibly get hot in the 2nd half. So we'll probably be in for at least another week or so of the fat ****.

The most baffling thing is the fact that Fielder has done NOTHING to justify hitting in about the upper 6/9 in the order. But we kept hitting him 3rd, and now we keep hitting him 5th. There is no reason for him to not be hitting 9th. 9th is your worst batter, and that is Fielder.

The way we've reacted to Fielder this season has pretty much been the way most fans react to a number 9 hitter in the lineup. Expect an out, if they do literally anything positive you celebrate it. There is not a reason in the world for him to hit 5th.

Pretty sad when that's the play of the day. The only reason it was a hit is because Bryant misplayed what is a relatively routine play for most 3rd basemen

Well, his OPS in June was over .800, which brought the hope for the media.

He's obviously slipped back down the last week or so we'll see how the media treats him but he had a good month and that's what they were reacting to.

His WAR is the worst on the team by a wide margin. Project that over the course of the season and he costs us 5 wins compared to an average big league starter.

League average $/bWAR last year was ~$5.3MM. Prince is playing so poorly that it'd be worth $13.7MM/yr just to sit his fat ass on the bench (~$6.8MM if you prorate it over the rest of the season), or $24.2MM/yr ($12.1MM prorated) if you can replace him with an average starter. His salary pays itself in win value if you get rid of him.
