Took an extra year but things are looking up. That draft class is looking pretty good for the Braves.

I don't think I've had a chance to watch a single Braves game this year. I've followed their ranking and have been surprised. I really wish the Astros were still in the NL. That gave me at least a chance to catch them in person every year.

i live in ATL. Listening to today's drubbing of the Mets, I thought about starting a thread but found this one.... I have tried become a Braves fan, but the Astros will always be my team.

That said, the core group of Acuna, Albies, Freeman, Inciarte, and Swanson is damn impressive. If their young pitching comes through, they have a long run of championship contending years ahead of them.

Acuna is the next MLB superstar IMO.

What is particularly impressive about the start to is that they aren't just beating up on bad teams. Only one team that they have played would be considered by most to be a bad team and that was the Reds. Other than that they have played the Nationals, Mets. Phillies, Rockies, and Cubs.

Soroka coming up and pitching well gives them decisions to make on starters. The bullpen has been the biggest weakness but adding Biddle seems to provide another reliable arm to go with Viz, Minter, Carle, and Winkler. Moylan has been pretty bad despite a decent ERA. Ramirez, Raven, Whitley, Jackson, Solocovich(sp.) , have already been given shots. Freeman has taken a step back this year too. Sam Freeman that is

Braves took 3 of 4 from the Marlins and held on to win the makeup game vs Cubs yesterday.

Braves lost another challenge play today. I believe that makes 13 challenges lost this year, leading the league.

It looks like I may get a chance to visit the new stadium in the next week or so. I have to travel to Atlanta to work and I may get to break away for a game.

In news from the minors, Austin Riley has played very well overall in AAA despite his age. Bruce Zimmerman leads all of the minors in strikeouts. Drew Waters is also a very young player off to a good start.

Soroka back off the DL and had a great start today as the Braves beat the Mets.

Many sites seemed to rank the Braves draft as being very good too, especially with no 3rd round pick.

I made it to SunTrust for a weekday game this week. The park was nice, but nothing special.

Yeah, I like the park (a hell of a lot better than Turner Field) but it's nothing special. The area around the park is nice but I was hoping for more restaurants and bars.

The family and I are going in September and I want to stay at the Omni to watch a game from their pool deck.

After losing series to the Orioles and Reds the Braves have swept the Cardinals and taken game one from the Yankees. Moylan to the DL. Reed and Phillips up from AAA.

While most thought this was another year for rebuilding the Braves go into July as the NL East leaders. It will be interesting to see how aggressive they are with trades. The bullpen needs some help without a doubt.

Braves enter the post all star break stretch 1/2 game back of the Phillies. First opponent is the Nats. Would be great to win this first series to build some momentum after a rough stretch lately. Might force the Nats to make desperate moves too.

In other news the Braves have 5 players in Keith Laws updated top 50 prospects. Future is still bright.

Newcomb was one batter short of a no hitter today. Braves trade for Brad Brach. Also traded for Ventors. Both cost IFA money.

Braves picked up Gausman and Duvall. Neither is a big splash but we didn't give up much. Allard made his MLB debut tonight and pitched 5 innings giving up 4 ER.

I really hope Acuna is ok. Ridiculous that the Marlins feel that they have to do that.

Definitely a trash move by that pitcher and the marlins. More than anything, we need Acua healthy for this stretch run.

Braves need all hands on deck right now and need every win they can get. That said I hope Urena doesn't dig in too hard next year if he faces the Braves. He could use a shot to the ribs. Even Freddie was pretty strong in his comments calling him gutless. Freddie normally doesn't say anything remotely negative.
