I'd love to have Folty as a starter. They have to give him every chance to find a spot in the rotation.

Folty needs to polish his breaking pitch. I would love it if he could get ML experience out of the pen and slide into the rotation at some point.

Think Folty has been a starter all through his minor league career.

FWIW, Harrell threw 3 innings and gave up 1 run against the Tigers yesterday.

blacked out in OKC as well on MLB TV, is this because of the CSN deal? What BS

I can't make the Apr 4 Friday night game against the Angels that I got tickets for.

Selling 2 tix at $10 below face value. $65 each if anyone is interested. Sec 118 row 18 behind home plate.

Correa and Singleton hit back-to-back homers today in the thrid, and Correa added another long ball in the 8th. The future is bright, muhfuggin shades are on, I'm slightly aroused, and I don't give a sh-t

A combo of Fowler/Springer/Hoes/Grossman is a pretty good outfield. I don't really see what the problem is? Why have we been so damn slow to get him up here?

I don't like it either, but it is very likely that Springer won't be in Houston until the date that delays his arbitration clock. I think its in May.

At some point I would actually like to see some of these high ceiling prospects actually come up to Houston to see what they can do

Singleton's bomb today was his first hit of the spring. Hopefully this will help him start turning things around.

First Base was wide open, I really wish he would have performed well and won the job.

On the other side of things, it looks like Krauss has played himself into a starting position.

I am a big Dallas Kuechel supporter. I want a rotation of:

Feldman
Oberholtzer
Cosart
Kuechel
Peacock

Jerome Williams can be a long-relief/spot start guy.

I would be ok with that rotation. I want to see how Asher Woj performs. He had a great year last year. He might compete for a spot soon as well

April 10 according to this: http://blog.chron.com/ultimateastros/2014/01/16/george-springers-promotion-date-a-key-issue-for-astros-future/

Edit: based on that article, I'll be shocked if springer is on the opening day roster. This is strictly a long-term business decision for them. It's why they let him stick on AAA all last year and didn't call him up. This obviously has been their plan for a while now.

Regarding Springer, if anything else, at least the Astros will get a longer look at Grossman/Hoes in the interim to see if either is a long-term solution beside fowler and Springer.

Who gives a ****? Won't springer be 30+ before he's eligible to be a FA? Typical Astros Bull**** having 26 year old rookies

If he's not up as soon as the arbitration clock doesn't matter, they are going to lose the few remaining fans they have left

Yep. It just goes to show that the more things change the more they remain the same. We had Zobrist in double-A when we traded him to Tampa Bay. They immediately put him on their major league roster and he's been there since.

They've stripped a year off this guy's major league career.

I'm as ready as anyone for Springer... but I see some merits for waiting til he gets called up in a couple of months. I saw Springer play in person last year, and he is a monster. He was the most MLB looking player on the field and that included Justin Maxwell and Manny Ramirez in the games I saw him play. He will probably automatically be our best defensive outfielder and have the best arm.

Keep in mind though, his K rate is likely to be as bad or worse than Chris Carter's as he adjusts to MLB pitching.

The decision is mostly $ driven though. If Springer is called up and avoids being a super 2, they will save a lot of cash if he ends up being a stud. Basically, 2 months now may save the team 15-20 million dollars later on.

And I repeat, I am chomping at the bit to see Springer be a Stro. The games I saw him in last year, he was a complete beast. He hit 2 homers and a couple of doubles. Showed off the cannon from deep right center field. Stole bases. He's a bad mofo. Here's a video of him being a fast SOB.

Pete I understand where you are coming from but honestly who cares what it'll cost us. The guy will be in his 30s before he's even eligible to be a FA. Huge disservice to him and the fans imo
TREX01
How long do you want to ignore this user?
He absolutely must be on the field by June 1. At 24 years old, give him a couple of years of growth and he turns into a beast 26-30. Those should be super competitive years for the organization.

Correa will be hot on his heals to the show and you mix in Appel and hopefully Rodon in the next two years and you have the real potential for a few really high end players.

Well if that's the case then they better send 2/3 of the lineup to OKC.

The Astros are being extremely cheap. If I was Springer I would hold this against the Astros when my next contract comes up.

And even though Springer is a bad man... Any prospect can completely flame out.
