AK they have 2 lefties starting the season on the DL in Breslow and Morales. I agree Miller can be a bit of a roller coaster ride with the walks, but he can also turn around and blow guys away (Cano included) with his high 90s heat.
It will be nice to get those guys back eventually to provide some more balance back there.

Cano helped him out on a couple of pitches. The Rays open up against the Orioles this afternoon.
AK - remember that nails is a subjective term. When the starting baseline is somewhere around dismal or putrid (as last year's bullpen was) it is easy to get excited over 4 shutout innings of relief on opening day and call it nails!

How much better exactly could it have been? 4 shutout innings (3 of which occured with the game still very much in doubt) on the road in the first game of the season.
They used 5 different guys and only allowed 1 hit and 2 walks. Uehara and Tazawa both threw under 10 pitches to get their 3 outs and Bailey came in and got a K with 2 runners on and a dangerous hitter at the plate (Youk)
Is it just one game out of 162? Of course. But to downplay it as meh doesn't seem to do it justice in my opinion. Bottom line is if they perform at or near that level for the majority of the season the Sox will win a lot of close games that they would've lost last season.
