what is status of murph?
Is zobrist done? isn't he 14MM/ yr contract.
I think Hamel could be bought for 10-12 MM, I think 20MM is too much.
I think the cubs will have to trade heyward, schwarbs, Happ, or Almora. Schwarbs needs to be in the AL. He will be an All Star there. I would hate for him to leave.

Pretty sure Zo is under contract at least 1 more year.
Schwarber was more than serviceable in LF this year. No need to trade him. He needs to get better about not watching called 3rd strikes. I honestly think his eye is TOO good. He watches a lot of called third strikes that are bad calls but close enough that he needs to be swinging.

I know it's fun to laugh at his escapades in left field, but the man can't hit the ball right now. Why would an AL team want a guy that can't hit in a position that only bats?
Theo was "coach speak mad" at the presser yesterday. Basically called out the team for giving up on getaway days when they won the first 2 games because they "won the series". Those situations enabled the Brewers to run them down in the end.

I don't think so. He hits FA when new CBA comes around. I think he will be one to push to end this "stay in minors to extend control" thing that will hurt him and Springer (for example)

Any word on Hamels?
Not yet. Cubs declined their option on Kintzler but he picked his up so we are stuck with him for $5MM. Team option was $10MM.
Hamels option picked up, Drew Smyly traded to the Rangers.
I know it's a lot of cash to keep Hamels, but with Darvish a big question mark for next year I think this is the right move.
I was hoping we could re-sign him for a little less but it wasn't worth the risk of losing him.

I thought Javy might have been penalized by playing other positions. LaMahieu had 300 more innings than Javy at 2nd base, with less errors than Javy. Supposedly a lot more defensive runs saved for DJ...but blah.

it wasn't sustainable and just small sample variance. He was much worse in non-PH situations.
Im waiting to see what happens at SS this off season. I'm hard pressed to believe that hes not shipped out as a throw-in to another deal (his value is roughly zero now)
He was money early in the season. My memory tells me he was terrible after the hot start.
