I do agree with the righty-lefty argument, especially with a young guy at the plate.
As for the 3-hole, I think Pena would be ideal if only he wouldn't K so much. I don't know. I just don't see a natural fit for that spot.

I want to see Colvin at 1B today (if Pena needs a day off for his thumb). I cringe everytime Dome is in the lineup and Tyler isn't - we need his pop in the midst of a weak lineup.
Colvin is playing 1B and hitting 5th today. Fukudome is back at the top with Castro back to the 2 hole. My favorite backup catcher gets the start today in Andrew Cashner's rotation debut.

Uh oh...Cashner leaving after getting an out and walking a batter in the 6th - trainer came out. Hopefully this is all precautionary, but he didn't even try to throw any to test whatever it is.

Even if you're short in the pen, why not put Marshall out for 2 innings and get a PH with 2 outs and the bases loaded?
I'm guessing only Grabow is a fresh arm out of the pen, but yeah, I think Marshall could go too.

Marshall has hardly thrown this year. He could go 2-3 innings easily.
Nice double play, considering 2/3 of that group aren't involved in turning that many of them.
