I assume so. When the report over the weekend was that the Angels may move on from Ausmus my first thought was that he would get Rick Renteria'd. If Maddon wants the job, I'm assuming it's his.

In the least shocking news all month, Maddon is the new manager of the Angels. Good luck to him.

Looks like it may be a two man race between Ross and Espada.

While the team has not been the same since Ross retired, I'm not completely sure bringing him back as the manger would be the best thing for him and the team. Espada already has some good experience on the field and if he can apply some of the same analytics being used in Houston I think he would be a great hire.

I'm not going to lie and say I know a lot about Espada but his resume seems pretty good. I would be happy if they hired him.

I think he's their guy. Someone who thinks the same way they do who won't **** up the bullpen like Joe did.

It became mutual when the Cubs let him go into the last year of his deal. I think he was gone regardless of outcome.

You're not wrong, but I am reminded of the adage: "if someone shows you who they are, believe them".

After the Chapman situation, Theo has shown us that he's not that concerned about the person character of a guy. We should believe him.

He's only really parting ways with him because he can't hit anymore.

Exactly and that is disappointing.

All this Bryant trade talk makes me queasy. On one hand if we can sucker a team into overpaying us then let's do it but I'm scared he will go on to a HOF career and whatever we get back would be a collection of busts.

His 2019 stats are bizarre. They are really close to 2015, but his oWAR is a full point lower than 2015. I guess he's being penalized for guys not being on base in front of him. His defense also got a lot worse (ie, his dWAR is worse that Schwarbers. Think about that...)

I don't mind if he goes on somewhere else and is successful. I think he's gone regardless due to the contractual stuff, so the Cubs might as well get value for it.

I don't think him being a HOF on the Cubs is an option.
