Juicing or Gambling?

Which is worse? The gamblers recieved lifetime bans from baseball (even those who were never guilty of actually gambling like Buck Weaver).

Should the MLB ban those guilty of juicing? Most people (me included) view the juicers as cheaters. Is the crime of juicing worthy of lifetime bans for things like the HOF? I know that many don't want Bonds, Clemmens and McGuire in the HOF because they set and broke many records due to illegal substance abuses. Should the MLB just ban them all like they did Pete Rose and the Chicago Black Sox?

gambling is worse because of the implication that a person is not trying to win or not doing their best to win. with steroids, the person is doing all they can to win. that is why I view gambling as worse.

the only way gambling is not worse IMO is if the person bet on his team every single game and bet the same amount each time.

Are you saying this based on the movie/book? Both were biased towards the players, painting them as fallen heroes. Particularly Weaver and Jackson.

Asinof wrote the book 44 years after the fact. Even then several players refused to talk about it, leaving Asinof to base his book on a handful of accounts.

All eight players were guilty of consorting with gamblers and deserved the punishment they received. I maintain the same mindset for Pete Rose.

As for steroids, I wouldn't be opposed to a lifetime ban if caught once. However these people that are after the fact, I think there needs to be a statute of limitations. Its been too long. Let them apologize and move on with their careers/lives.

I do think gambling is far worse though.

I guess I am taking the testimony of both. Weaver contested his guilt to his death. According to Wikipedia (which admittedly isn't the most reliable source) he was in the room when the offer was made but refused it. The judge convicted him of knowing about it but not reporting it.
